Recently I received a new DIY and craft book titled “The Craft Kingdom: DIY Craft Projects for Kids and Adults” by Eli Maor. The Craft Kingdom is the one-stop-shop for all things DIY. It contains more than 90 crafts and projects, organized by subjects like: paints, nature-inspired, stamps, washi tape, soap making, candle making, recycling art, repurposing, beauty accessories, fabric and textile projects, buttons, paper and even paper napkins. Each project contains a supply list and detailed, colorful, picture-filled tutorial. At the end of the book there is a section for stencils to trace shapes needed for the projects, leaving no stone un-turned as you dive into creating.

The book is GREAT for summer – not only are the crafts adult and kid friendly, but most of them don’t even require a trip to the store. One of my favorite chapters in the book is the “Nature Crafts” where the author teaches you to get out into nature and use found objects in your crafting projects. Items like: tree branches, seashells, rocks, flowers, leaves, etc. As a nature-lover I really loved the author’s seashell ideas and will be collecting some seashells while at the beach next week. I plan on decorating some photo frames, trinket boxes and other items thanks to the author’s ideas.

The author includes a section on using paper napkins in your crafting projects. When I was a kid we called those type’s of projects “Decoupage” and I’m excited to jump back into the decoupaging world. I plan on finding some pretty paper napkins and using them to decorate some glass vases and other items around my home.
