We just celebrated my husband’s birthday and now I’m working party preparations for my daughter’s 9th birthday party later this month. As our children get older, it seems that they want bigger, better and more creative birthday parties. This year though, we’re keeping her party simple and having it at the local roller skating rink. Do you hold birthday parties for your kids every year? Do you typically host them at home or do you find a nearby facility? We set a budge for our kid’s parties and keep them reasonable. I don’t understand these parents who spend multi-hundreds & thousands of dollars on elaborate parties for their kids. I would rather put the money into college savings accounts or make a donation to charity. These days kids are being too spoiled!

Yes, my niece’s children get big (but not too big) parties. My son’s family keep it small. They have a smaller style party where they live. I have one again for them with the family that lives here when they visit. They love getting two parties, even though they are small.

I never thought about this fact about sayings, but it is true. When my kids were young we always celebrated their birthday parties, sometimes simply , sometimes more elaborately, but never hundreds of dollars.
