We live 15 minutes from Hershey, Pennsylvania. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, Hershey is located about 15 minutes from Harrisburg, 30 minutes from Lancaster (Amish Country) and about 70 minutes from Gettysburg. Hershey is the “sweetest” place on earth and many of us here refer to it as “Chocolate Town”.
Hershey is a mega tourist destination and tourists from all over the world flock to our area, especially during late spring, summer and the early fall months. With that said, you’ll find tourists here pretty much year-round, but we really burst at the seams during the summer vacation season.
It’s a small town in America that is beautifully kept! When you drive around on the downtown streets you’ll notice it’s charming decor. The street lamps that line the downtown streets are done in a Hershey’s Kiss style. You’ll find “silver foil wrapped” kisses and chocolate kisses (street lights) lining both sides of the street.
Along the way you’ll see signs of our patriotism with American Flags, beautifully potted flowers, perfectly manicured lawns, old buildings mixed with the new and you won’t find littered streets here! Nope…the locals take great pride in keeping Hershey neat and clean.
I find small towns to be very charming and I love driving through them. Hershey is fantastic, but I admit…I’m a bit biased since we live only 15 minutes away. However, take a look at my photos and I think you can see what I mean about the “sweetest place” on earth.
So there you have it! A little sneak peek of what downtown Hershey looks like! Have you ever visited? Got plans to visit?

You have written so much about Hershey that I really want to go visit there. I shall try to make the time this summer.
We do frequent day trips visiting small towns around us and having lunch. Always interesting but Hershey looks very unique with the ‘chocolate” theme.
I have never visited Hershey but I sure would like to. This town looks so pretty and clean and sounds like a lot of fun for the whole family.
i want to visit Chocolate Avenue. I want to eat my way to it.
I love all the flags. This whole town looks fun. It is so picturesque. It looks quaint, like it was left in ime yet modern. I would love to go there.
