Preparing food is one of my favorite things to do. Having good kitchen equipment adds to my enjoyment, especially when the tools are as attractive as they are functional, like my new Cheese Board with Handle from Chosen Stones. This handcrafted board is gorgeous, and using it is pure pleasure.

Like all of Chosen Stones’ products, my Cheese Board is crafted from hardwoods intended to last for years, and the different woods are bonded with food-safe glue. The Cheese Board measures 7″ x 15″ and is a half-inch thick, making it my first choice for smaller chopping tasks, like cutting the vegetables for our nightly salads. The hardwood offers just the right resistance to my knife without wearing the blade. In addition, the board’s size and beauty makes it perfect for serving cheeses and other snacks when entertaining.
When I originally received my new cutting board, one of my first thoughts was that it’s much too beautiful to risk damaging it by using a knife on it. Apparently I’m not the only person to have expressed that fear, since Chosen Stones addresses it in the FAQs at their website. Their response is that “with proper care and maintenance, your board will take the cuts gracefully and will gain ‘character’ with each use. Our aim is that your board be beautifully functional.” I love that idea! It would be a shame not to use and enjoy such a lovely piece of kitchen equipment.
Care and maintenance of the cutting board is actually quite simple. Like anything made of wood, it must never be put in the dishwasher. Chosen Stones recommends wiping it with a damp cloth or sponge after use and towel-drying it thoroughly, and occasionally oiling it. Nothing difficult about that! They also say that if the board begins to show excessive wear, I can use fine sandpaper to smooth the surface, then treat it with oil.
Chosen Stones produces a wide variety of chopping blocks, cutting boards, and serving boards and trays. They also have a collection of wooden utensils any cook would love to have. If you have an idea for a custom board or other item, they are quite willing to make individual pieces upon request. Visit the Chosen Stones website to browse all of their handcrafted collections and to learn the touching story of how the company came to be as well as the reason behind their unusual name. You can find them over on Pinterest too.

This is a beautiful board. I am glad that they tell you to use it and give you advice on how to treat it when it begins to show wear.
That is really pretty. They have some really nice items. I love the gorgeous Coronado in Walnut!
