Jason’s Imagination: The Rain King Children’s Book Review

April 19, 2018 by Jenelle

Jason's Imagination: The Rain King Children's BookI’m the mother of 2 young children and reading books together is an important part of our lives. I grew up loving books and now I’m passing down my love for reading to my children. My 8 year old daughter is an avid book reader and my 2 year old son is a good listener when it comes to our family reading time.

* Complimentary Book Received for Review & Feature.

We received the Jason’s Imagination: The Rain King by Jason Edwards children’s book to review for you. All of the illustrations inside the book were done by Mike Motz. The book is geared towards children ages 5 to 8 years of age.

ISBN: 9781975612788.

Book Synopsis: A huge storm has started. The clouds have darkened. The wind is howling. Jason, becoming quite scared and has found himself under the protection of his mother’s arm on the couch. Wrapped up in a blanket he asks if the rain and lightning will get in the house. Playfully, Jason’s mom encourages him to use his imagination to protect and save them. Now in his knight’s armor, Jason begins his journey through his imagination to battle the Water Monsters.

My Thoughts: Jason is an 8 year old little boy who has some fears and must find the strength to overcome them. One night the weather turns nasty and Jason’s mother encourages him to overcome those fears by using his imagination. The story is an easy read for children and is full of adventure. I really like that the “message of the story” is to teach children to face their fears head-on and to overcome them. The author does a great job at conveying this message in the story and does it in a way that young children will comprehend it. The story is engaging and entertaining…from start to finish. It’s one of those little story books that you can read to your child (or have them read it to you) in one sitting. The illustrations in the book are extremely well-done and very eye-catching for both children and adults.

You can buy this entertaining and engaging children’s book directly from Amazon at a really great price. As an additional purchase ~ You’ll find a coordinating coloring book to go along with it.

I too like how this book shows children that they can use their imagination to help them if they feel scared. It is important to learn to face one’s fears.
