Homemade M&M Tie-Dye Cookies Recipe
I’m fortunate that I get to see my grandchildren at least once every week. When they come over to my house I always try to send them home with some treats, usually a batch of homemade cookies. When it comes to cookies, they love chocolate chip or M&M cookies which are always at the top of their list.
A few weeks ago I made a batch of what I call M&M Tie-Dye Cookies. If you want your cookies to get colorful, you’ll want to use regular M&M candies, not the mini ones that you find in the baking aisle, but the regular candies that you find in the candy aisle. They melt a lot better and really give the cookies that tie-dye look that all kids seem to love.
Here’s the recipe that I use when I make them. It will make approximately 25-32 cookies, depending on how big you make them. Plus, you can vary the amount of candies that you use in the recipe to suit your own liking.
- 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups M&M’s Candies
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a large mixing bowl beat together the softened butter and brown sugar. Beat in the large egg and vanilla extract until well combined. In a separate bowl sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda and salt.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed butter mixture until both are well combined together. Hand stir in the M&M’s candies.
- Drop dough onto an ungreased baking sheet. I use a tablespoon to drop the dough and leave about 2″ of space between each one. Place baking sheet into the oven and bake for 8-11 minutes or until done. Remove from oven and let them sit on the baking sheet for an additional minute. Place cookies onto a wire rack to thoroughly cool, before placing them into an airtight container.
