The Beautiful Fisherman’s Memorial in Cape May

April 4, 2018 by Shelly

Fisherman's Memorial in Cape May New JerseyWe love visiting the Jersey Shore and one of our favorite places to visit is Cape May County. More specifically, we love the Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May areas. That’s right, in my honest opinion, the best beaches at the Jersey Shore are all located in the southern tip of the state.

The beautiful Fisherman’s Memorial is located in Cape May, New Jersey…right along the Cape May Harbor. If you plan on visiting the Cape May Nature Center, you’ll find it just a few short blocks away.

There are just a few parking spaces at the Fisherman’s Memorial site. Once you park, you’ll walk up a little paved path to find park benches, beautiful landscaping, the flagpole, the Fisherman’s Statue and other things. It’s really nicely landscaped and pretty to look at.

The Fisherman’s Memorial is a granite statue featuring a woman standing on the sandy beach while comforting her two small children. It depicts a grieving family where the husband & father was lost at sea. All of the names on the memorial are people who were lost at sea in this particular area over the years.

Talk about scenic views!!! I love sitting on one of the park benches up on the sandy waterfront area and watching the boats come through. I could literally sit there for hours, upon hours. This beach area is NOT for swimming. It’s just for sitting and for visiting the memorial.

If you’re going to be visiting Cape May in New Jersey…take a few minutes out of your day to go visit the Fisherman’s Memorial. It’s 100% free to visit. It’s beautiful, peaceful and serene.

What a beautiful memorial to honor those lost at sea and having the names would be extra meaningful for families. Being near beaches and the water is always a calming and peaceful experience for me.

I love the Cape May Nature Center. I have never run across the Fisherman Memorial. I normally ended up down there at least once a year. I will definately put it on my to see list.

Its a beautiful statue but a sad reminder how the ea is lovely but a life there can end there. I can only imagine the number of families who have visited. There are such pretty beach pictures of one day I wish to see the Atlantic and your area. Its alway fun to read these posts!
