For the past 18 months we’ve shared numerous kid’s craft projects with all of you here on the blog. We’ve painted on smooth river rocks and on large clam shells (seashells) which my granddaughter loves to do! Her introduction explains how to find and choose stones, which kinds of materials and tools are safe for kids to use, how to set up a workspace, simple techniques, and other helpful tips.
A splendid variety of patterns begins with illustrations of basic shapes and designs for human figures and faces, animals, numbers and letters, and natural motifs—flowers, trees, and stars. Other activities include painting stones for games such as tic-tac-toe, chess, and dominoes. Kids will learn lettering techniques for writing names and words on pebbles and how to design holiday-themed decorations. We were extremely excited to receive the 2nd book from author F. Sehnaz Bac, since we have the first book and use it all of the time! Even though the majority of designs in both books are geared towards painting on rocks & stones, you can certainly paint those designs on seashells, pieces of wood, glass items and other things.
The author/artist does a great job at explaining the technique in easy-to-understand terms, great for beginners! Plus, all of the designs in the book are easy-to-follow, thanks to the step-by-step instructions and illustrations to help guide you along the way. Once you make a few of the featured designs, you’ll be off and running to the races with your own creative masterpieces! What a great project to do with or without kids!
