Air Wool Socks — Soft, Comfortable, and Stylish
Socks may not be the most glamorous item of clothing, but they sure are one of the most important. I wear them every day, except in very hot weather (and sometimes even then). It’s easy to take socks for granted, but the right socks can make a huge difference in keeping your feet warm, dry, and comfortable.
Allow me to introduce you to my new favorite socks, Air Socks by Petani. Air Socks come in a few styles, and I received a two-pair pack of Air Wool Socks for my review. These ultra-comfortable socks are warm enough for winter wear, but they’re not thick or heavy, so I’ll be wearing them pretty much year-round, too. They’re a blend of 25% merino wool, 17% cotton, 44% polyester, 9% acrylic, 4% polyamide, and 1% spandex, and that combination makes for soft, warm, light, and breathable socks.
Air Wool Socks are available in three colors: Black (black with grey stripes on the leg portion and grey cuffs), Dark Black (solid black), and Grey. The sizing is a unisex M, L, or XL, corresponding to US shoe sizes 6-9 for medium, 9.5-11 for large, and 11.5-13 for extra-large. When choosing the size I needed, I confess that I found the sizing confusing, since there’s no differentiation between men’s shoe sizes and women’s shoe sizes. I generally wear a women’s size 7 shoe, so I went with the “M” Air Socks, and the fit was perfect.
Overall, I like these socks a lot. They’re very soft, especially on the inside. As I said, the fit is good, not too tight, with plenty of room to wiggle my toes. They’re a nice length, a bit longer than crew socks; on me, they’re just about mid-calf. They stay up without being tight, a feature I really appreciate. My favorite way to wear them is slightly scrunched over my black leggings. They’re comfortable with every type of footwear I’ve worn them with—boots, shoes, sneakers, and slippers.
After washing, my socks were even softer. They retained their shape and didn’t shrink or lose their elasticity, either. The washing instructions on the packaging are mainly pictographs, and since I wasn’t 100% sure what the symbols meant, I did a little online research before washing my socks. In the end, it’s pretty simple: Wash at a temperature of 85°F/30°C, drip dry, do not bleach, do not iron, do not dry clean. I’m not sure of the exact water temperatures of my washing machine, but its “eco warm” setting worked perfectly for my Air Socks.
