The Striking Beauty of Niagara Falls

In the past 3 1/2 years we’ve had the pleasure of visiting Niagara Falls in New York three times. Every time we visit Niagara Falls State Park it’s a totally different experience. We’ve visited during the late spring, during mid-summer and in early fall. If I had to pick my favorite time to visit…it would be in early Fall.

Why Fall? Well, I’m going to tell you! We live in south central Pennsylvania and the drive up to Niagara Falls in early October is absolutely beautiful. If you take some of the smaller country routes up…you’ll be treated to the northeastern Fall Foliage show! The changing colors of the leaves is absolutely gorgeous this time of the year!

As an added bonus by going in late spring or early fall is that there aren’t as many tourists! When we went during the summertime everything was packed and there were large lines and big crowds everywhere! If you want to avoid that, I suggest the springtime or fall for your trip.

Over the past few years I’ve shared many photographs here on the blog of Niagara Falls and today I’m back to share just a few more. Please read the captions with each photograph to understand what you’re seeing.

If you’re planning to visit Niagara Falls State Park, you’ll want to plan on visiting the park for at least 4 hours. There are a lot of great walking trails, gift shopping, the Maid of the Mist boat tour, observation decks, restaurants, etc. to keep you entertained. The park is FREE to enter and walk around. If you want to do any of the activities, you’ll have to pay a fee for those.

The Niagara River runs between Niagara Falls United States and Niagara Falls in Canada. It’s what separates the two countries in this particular area. The river is quite large! I’m used to rivers running north to south…but in this area the Niagara River runs south to north! Check out those rapids in the last photograph above. Wowza!

Anyway, I wanted to share a few more photographs with you from our last trip up to Niagara Falls in New York. It’s definitely one destination that should be on every traveler’s bucket list!
