Sweet and Spicy Grilled Barbecue Chicken Legs Recipe

September 26, 2017 by Shelly

Sweet and Spicy Grilled Barbecue Chicken Legs RecipeA couple of weeks ago our local grocery store ran a big sale on fresh chicken legs that I just couldn’t pass up. We love grilled barbecue chicken, but typically use chicken breasts and thighs. With that said, I tried out a new easy-to-make barbecue sauce recipe and my family devoured these chicken legs!

Sweet and Spicy Grilled Barbecue Chicken Legs Recipe

1 1/2 lbs. chicken legs
1 cup spicy barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
1/2 tsp. to 3/4 tsp. hot sauce
2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
1 1/2 Tbsp. honey (we used Manuka honey)

In a large bowl combine together the spicy barbecue sauce, hot sauce, Dijon mustard and the honey…stirring to combine the ingredients. Pour half of your prepared sauce into a large baking dish.

Rinse off the chicken legs and lay them on top of the sauce. Pour the remaining sauce on top. Use a piece of aluminum foil to cover the baking dish. Place into the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. I like to make it up early in the morning and refrigerate them all day long to allow the flavors to infuse.

Remove from refrigerator. Use tons to place the chicken legs onto a preheated and HOT grill. It took about 8-10 minutes on each side until our’s were done. However, we grilled them over medium-to-high heat and not on high, as hubby doesn’t like “blackened” chicken. Remove from grill and serve immediately. Easy and delicious!

I always like sweet and salty recipes. I would try to make the chicken more spicy.
