Frugal Finds – Storage Bins for the Kitchen and Pantry

September 25, 2017 by Shelly

Frugal Finds and Hot DealsOver the past few weeks I’ve been working on giving my kitchen a good “deep cleaning”, down-sizing my kitchen goodies and then re-organizing everything that I decided to keep. At first I thought this project would just take me a few hours on a weekend, but it’s turned out to be a three week ordeal. Sigh.

Anyway…My kitchen is decorated in beach and coastal decor. I just love anything and everything to do with the beach! I went through all of my plastic storage containers, canning equipment and cookbooks last weekend and downsized them by 70%. What I didn’t want, I gave away and some things I donated to Goodwill. It’s amazing how much stuff I was hoarding in my kitchen that I really didn’t need!

I headed to my local A.C. Moore’s store to look for some baskets and/or storage bins as I had some things I wanted to get organized. While browsing around, I found these “coastal design” storage bins on sale for 60% off. That brought each one down to around $5.50 a piece and I really love the look of them. I purchased four of them and brought them home.

Coastal Beach Storage Bins for the Home

One of the storage bins is holding my plastic containers and lids that I use for leftovers in my refrigerator/freezer. Another bin is holding some extra kitchen linens and a third is holding some bulky kitchen utensils and tools. I placed those three bins on a shelf in my pantry closet. The fourth bin (shown in the photograph) is now being used to hold about a dozen cookbooks that I frequently use. I put it on a shelf on my microwave cart, so now my everyday cookbooks are neatly organized and within easy reach.

For $5.50 each, these storage bins are really nice! They have rigid sides and a rigid bottom. They are then covered in a tan canvas material and the stamped beach design is on the front (seashell design). Each of the sides have a metal ring handle. They’re the perfect “medium size” to hold all kinds of things. I’m going to go back and see if they have a few more. I could certainly fill them up with additional goodies, to keep things neatly stored in my pantry closet. Plus, I think they look a whole lot nicer than plastic storage containers! Yay me!

So, did you find any new clearance deals, bargains, flea market finds, etc. this past week? If so, tell me about them! I love a good deal!

These bins look very nice. I found some containers on sale at Hollar and I had an $8 credit towards my purchase. I too am trying to organize my kitchen.

Great finds at a great price! And perfect with your decor, too. You done good!

My best finds recently came at the local Goodwill, where I picked up a Lands End skirt and a pair of Michael Kors pants for a dollar each. Both are in great condition, and best of all, they fit. Score!

I like that idea. I have a “junk” space in my cabinets that needs organization. I could use one of these to organize that mess. I will have to see what I can find in my area.

Those bins are a great idea for organizing things. And in your beach theme too.
