Emmy Watch Party Recipes from Heluva Good

September 15, 2017 by Carol

You’ve spent the last year binge-watching your favorite TV shows–often times with a glass of wine. But now that you’re getting ready to host your friends for an Emmy viewing party, you’re going to need more than just wine. Because we all want to be the hostess with the mostest, the one ingredient that will complete your spread and make your entertaining recipes a show stopper: Heluva Good! dips —the versatile ingredient that would have the Underwoods and Eleven reaching for more.

Still obsessing over the powerful force that is Eleven? Still reeling over that final line from Claire Underwood after ignoring Frank’s phone call? Celebrate these enticing shows with recipes that pay homage to the best TV has to offer.

Heluva Good! dips are made with real sour cream and flavorful spices, so deliciously bold flavors such as French Onion, Buttermilk Ranch, and Bacon Horseradish will allow these dishes to stand out!

Broccoli, Egg and Cheese Turn-overs Recipe

It’s My Turn (-over) Now – HOUSE OF CARDS

Heluva Good! French Onion Dip
Box of puff pastry
Egg
Broccoli
Shredded cheddar cheese
(optional) Shredded chicken

Thaw puff pastry according to the manufacturer. Pre-heat oven @ 400 F. Blanch broccoli florets, and let them cool in ice bath. Tear them into tiny florets and dry any excess water. In a mixing bowl, add broccoli florets, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded chicken (if using), cracked black pepper, and add a generous dollop of Heluva Good dip of your choice to make a creamy paste. When puff pastry sheets are thawed but still cold, cut them in 4” squares. Make an egg wash with a bit of water, and brush it on the edges of the squares. Put 1 TBSP of filling in the middle, and fold in half to make a triangle. Press the ends with a finger, and crimp with a fork to seal.
Let them chill in the freezer for 10 minutes. Place them evenly on a cookie sheet, and apply egg wash generously. Poke steam holes on top and bake for about 15-20 minutes, until it’s golden and flaky.

11 Layer Dip Recipe

ELEVEN Layer Dip – STRANGER THINGS

Heluva Good! Buttermilk Ranch dip
Refried pinto beans
Avocado
Roma tomato
Lime
Cilantro
Jalapeño
Canned chopped tomatoes with chiles
Shredded cheddar cheese
Shredded jack cheese
Scallion
Black olives
Tortilla chips of choice

Mash avocado, and add juice of half lime, salt, pepper, and chopped tomatoes to make Guacamole (You can make this any way you prefer). Chop scallions, slice black olives, jalapeño, and drain canned chopped tomatoes with chiles. In a plate you choose, mentally divide it into 6. Add the layers in the order of Heluva Good dip, refried pinto beans, cheddar cheese, jack cheese, guacamole, and canned chopped tomatoes with chiles. Then add black olive slices on top of the dip, chopped tomatoes on top of refried pinto beans, sliced jalapeños over the cheese, cilantro on top of guacamole, and chopped scallion over canned chopped tomatoes with chiles. Sprinkle some cracked black pepper or taco seasoning. Pair with your favorite tortilla chips and ENJOY!

I would love serving both of these dishes. The layered dip and chips always go over big in my house. I like that the puff pasty dish can be made with or without chicken. Looks good.
