Chocolate M&M Pretzel Bites Recipe

Last month my great-granddaughter was attending a scout party and I needed to whip up a finger-food type of snack to send along with her. For the past few years I’ve been making something that I call Chocolate M&M Pretzel Bites. They’re are really easy-to-make.

When you make them, you can buy red & green M&M’s during the holiday season to make a Christmas treat. In the springtime you can buy pastel-colored M&M’s to make them suitable for Easter and springtime. Just change out the colors of the M&M’s and you’re good to go.

Not into chocolate? Don’t worry…you can make them with caramel squares too! Just omit the chocolate disks and use one un-wrapped caramel square instead.

Chocolate M&M Pretzel Bites Recipe

Chocolate M&M Pretzel Bites Recipe

1 bag of thin, small pretzels
1 bag of chocolate candy disks (milk, white and dark chocolate)
1 bag of plain M&M Candies
non-stick baking spray or aluminum foil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or lightly spray it with non-stick baking spray.

Place the pretzels on the baking sheet about 1″ apart. Place one chocolate disk on the center of each pretzel. Place baking sheet into a preheated oven for 30 to 45 seconds, just long enough for the chocolate to get very soft, but don’t let it completely melt!

Remove baking sheet from the oven and let stand for 1 minute at room temperature. Push one or two M&M candies on top. Let stand at room temperature until cool. Store in an airtight container.

Note: If you’re making them with caramel squares instead of the chocolate disks, you may need to let them in the oven for 10-15 seconds longer. Sometimes caramel takes a little bit longer to soften-up.
