My daughter has never been a big fan of cake. Matter of fact, from the time she was 3 years old, she would ONLY eat the frosting and icing off of cupcakes and cake. The cake itself, wasted. Starting at an early age, we had to get creative with what we would serve at her annual birthday parties and one thing that she’s requested for the past 25 years has been a homemade blueberry crisp!
When it comes to using frozen blueberries in the recipes that I make, I prefer using Wyman’s of Maine Frozen Wild Blueberries. These delicious blueberries are frozen at the peek of ripeness. The blueberries are plump, juicy and flavorful. I love using them to make homemade blueberry bread, muffins, pie, cobblers, fruit crisps and often times I toss them into my blender when I make blueberry smoothies.
My daughter’s birthday is a few days away and I got busy whipping up her favorite homemade blueberry crisp recipe and yes…I used my favorite Wyman’s of Maine Frozen Wild Blueberries in the recipe.
Easy Homemade Blueberry Crisp Recipe

1/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 to 1/2 cup quick oats (oatmeal)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease the bottom of a glass casserole dish with butter. Place partially-thawed blueberries into the bottom of the casserole dish.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl: Mix together the granulated sugar and salt. Sprinkle this mixture on top of the blueberries.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl: Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until creamy. Mix in the quick oats and all-purpose flour until all ingredients are well-combined. Sprinkle this mixture on top.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree F. oven for approximately 18-20 minutes or until done. Don’t over-bake it or it will become dry. Remove from oven to let cool
Serving Suggestions: You can serve it plain, with cold milk poured over-the-top, with vanilla ice cream or with whipped topping on the top.
Disclosure: Shelly was provided with a free package of blueberries for her recipe feature. No monetary compensation was received.
This is a recipe I can make. I also would use frozen fruits to make this recipe.
I love using berries and other fruits to make crisps, cobblers and pies If the berries are not in season then I prefer the frozen packages. Wyman’s of Maine is a good brand.
Crisps and cobblers are my favorite go to recipes for dessert. I find that my family always enjoys them and they are easy to make. It is handy to have frozen berries available.
