Kinsa Smart Thermometer is Smart, Reliable and Convenient

May 9, 2017 by Kristine

It’s been a tough flu season in our household this year, especially for my son. There have been some nasty bugs going around at his school and he seems to catch most of them, even with the flu vaccination on board. He usually spikes a pretty high fever, so it’s vital that we have a reliable thermometer in this household. I recently was introduced to the Kinsa Smart Thermometer, a modern, reliable and personalized way to help better care for everyone in your family. It connects to your Smartphone and enables you to have everything you need right at your fingertips.

Kinsa is a company that believes that healthcare products in the home should always accomplish two things: reassure and comfort the user, and provide context and guidance about what to do next. This company has reimagined the world’s most common medical device to do both. The Kinsa Smart Thermometer supports you from the first sign of illness through recovery and beyond by focusing not only on what the temperature reading is, but what to do next.

Kinsa Smart Thermometer

The Kinsa Smart Thermomter is the first FDA-cleared app-enabled thermometer and as many of us know from experience, fever is one of the first signs of illness. At first, I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to set up, but it was incredibly simple. I have an iPhone 7, so I had to use the little adapter that came with it. The instructions for set up will appear on your phone once your download the Kinsa app. I created a profile (and profiles for my family) and then calibrated the device. The app guides you through the calibration process with step-by-step instructions. The entire process only took about 6 or 7 minutes and I was ready to go.

I took my temperature, which was normal, but it still asked me if I had any symptoms to gauge whether maybe I needed some other guidance. There was also an area that I could click on that read, “when you do feel sick, we’re here to help.” This took me to another page that gave some sample guidance.

There are so many benefits that come with this great product. It does the following:

• Provides an accurate temperature reading
• Offers personalized guidance on how to soothe symptoms and when to call the doctor
• Reminds you when to take meds and at what dosage
• Keeps your family’s health details in your pocket whenever you need them
• Shows which illnesses are circulating nearby (local area or within a user’s school) for a better idea of what bug you’re fighting

I absolutely love that this product has built in intelligence and can be connected to my Smartphone. I do everything else with my Smartphone, why not this? You also don’t need batteries, which is fantastic. That’s one of the main things that I really despise about my drugstore digital thermometer. The battery is always dead and it’s a pain to find the right ones for it. The Kinsa Smart Thermometer is a must have for any family, especially those with kids. It can be used with children of any age as you can use the thermometer orally, rectally or under the arm.

The Kinsa Smart Thermometer is available at Amazon and at the Kinsa website.

I love that you don’t need batteries. If you have an iPhone this would be a very big help for the entire family.

Does the prob thing go under the tongue? I do like the ones that you just touch to the forehead.
