Looking for a new flick to watch for family movie night? If so, we’ve got a great one to tell you about today and it stars one of my favorite actors J.K. Simmons (remember him from the Law & Order tv shows?). He’s fab!
From Academy Award®-nominated writer-director Ash Brannon comes the heartwarming and hilarious family film Rock Dog, on Digital HD May 9th and Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand May 23rd from Lionsgate. The music-filled adventure about a dog’s quest to fulfill his dream features an all-star cast, including J.K. Simmons (Zootopia), Luke Wilson (Old School), Eddie Izzard (Cars 2), Lewis Black (Inside Out), and Kenan Thompson (The Smurfs 2).
When a radio falls from the sky into the hands of a wide-eyed Tibetan Mastiff, he leaves home to fulfill his dream of becoming a musician, setting into motion a series of completely unexpected events.
Our Thoughts: For our family movie viewing party we had 4 adults (ages 32 to 68 years of age) and 4 children (ages 20 months to age 15) here at our home. I like to give ages, so that you can better judge if this movie is something your family would enjoy.
One of the things my family enjoyed about this movie is that it’s different! We’re getting tired of the Prince, Princess, Fairytale, Superhero, etc. type’s of movies. We love animated movies, but we’re bored with the same old, same old. This movie knocks it out of the park with being different!
All of the animated characters are adorable and you’ll fall in-love with them from the get-go. The story line starts off strong and is strong through the entire film. From beginning to end you’ll find parts that are hilariously funny and other parts are entertaining with pure animated adventure.
As you know, I never give spoilers to the ending of the movies that I review as that ruins all of the fun. However, I will tell you that this one does end the way that I expected, but what makes it really great is all of the stuff that happens in-between. It’s fun, entertaining and it would make a great addition to your video library. One of the best animated movies that I’ve seen this year!

We have a movie night once in awhile when the younger Grand kids are here. We usually have Pop Corn and ice cream. We always watch children’s Movies.or Family friendly ones..
We do movie nights about twice a month and the kids just love getting their sleeping bags and popcorn!
We do it about once a month. My son loves ice age and Star Wars, but my daughters are starting to push for princess movies

I don’t host a family night. Sometimes when my grandchildren sleep ove I try to get a movie that they will enjoy. When my husband is not home my daughter & I watch girlie movies!
