Delicious and Nutritious Banana Wave Dairy Free BananaMilk

May 30, 2017 by A Bailey

Banana Wave Dairy Free BananaMilkWhen I first heard of Banana Wave, I assumed it was just another new product in the non-dairy milk category. But wow, was I wrong! In fact, a beverage made from bananas, grains, and seeds was used as a natural energy booster in Africa’s Nile Valley as long ago as 3000 B.C.—now that’s a pedigree!

Banana Wave is the modern version of that ancient drink, based on a recipe that has been passed down for generations. The founders of the Fresh Start Beverage Company used their grandmother’s recipe for banana milk as the basis for what became Banana Wave.

But how does it taste? Awesome! Its light banana flavor isn’t at all overpowering, and it has just the right amount of sweetness. I poured some into a small glass just to taste it, and I drank the whole thing down, then had seconds because it was so good.

Smoothies are a favorite lunch for me, and Banana Wave put my usual banana-strawberry smoothie over the top. I used a few chopped, sweetened strawberries, half of a frozen banana, some plain yogurt, a pinch of salt, and Banana Wave in place of the usual milk, and I loved every sip. I also found that using Banana Wave in place of milk in my overnight oats added a wonderful depth of flavor. And simply pouring Banana Wave over cold cereal turned an ordinary breakfast into a particularly tasty way to start the day. My imagination is running wild with ways I’d like to use Banana Wave, especially in my homemade baked goods.

Banana Wave is as nutritious as it is delicious. It contains 29 vitamins and minerals (including Vitamins A, B, C, D, and E) and is a good source of omega 3’s and antioxidants; I’m sure it will come as no surprise that it also supplies potassium, just like the bananas it’s made from. It’s Clean Leaf Non-GMO Certified, as well as being vegan and Kosher. Banana Wave is all natural, with no artificial flavors, preservatives, or colors. Another plus is that it’s shelf-stable, only requiring refrigeration once the package has been opened.

And it’s award winning, too! Banana Wave received the 2016 Beverage World BevStar Award, taking first place in the Pioneer category.

Unfortunately for me, the store locator at the Banana Wave website shows that the nearest store that carries it is over 150 miles away. You might be luckier, though, since it’s available through many retailers nationwide, including Whole Foods, Market Basket, Safeway, and some Walmart stores. The good news is that you can order it directly through Banana Wave; a two-pack of 32-ounce containers is $11.98, a six-pack is $32.94, and a 12-pack is $59.88.

What an easy and convenient way to have a nutritious and yummy breakfast or lunch. I am glad to see they carry it at Safeway so that I can look there or check out Amazon. I like having items like this on hand in my pantry.

You know I just saw a banana drink in the milk department in our grocery store! I do not think it was this but wasn’t sure, and it was kind of pricey but it had me intrigued. I bet it is delicious on cereal. I love bananas and would be curious about this product.

Every now and then I can find a huge bunch of overripe bananas for just a dollar at the grocery store. I love very ripe bananas and with the really ripe ones, I mush them up and use them in most everything. They almost act like a binder and it helps me get through the whole bunch before they turn black! You have me curious now and I’ll have to look up that ancient banana drink recipe or if I can find something similar.

I like your idea of using this for smoothies and in your oatmeal. This is not sold in Cali only in the Midwest .
