Every month I make up a batch of homemade brownies. My family loves to snack on them and often times I will bake a batch of brownies for my husband to take into work or for my granddaughter to take to her scout’s meeting. Brownies are delicious and you can toss all kinds of different goodies into your batter to keep things interesting. With that said, I do prefer to make them from scratch. What about you? Here’s one of my family’s favorite from-scratch recipes!
Double Chocolate Nut Brownies Recipe
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 large eggs
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup peanuts, finely chopped
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray non-stick baking spray into your baking pan. You can make this recipe in an 8″ by 8″ pan for thick brownies or a 9″ by 13″ baking pan for thinner ones.
In a small mixing bowl, melt 1 cup of the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave at 15 second intervals until melted, stirring in-between each interval. Remove from the microwave and pour the melted chocolate into a large mixing bowl. Stir in the large eggs, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, vanilla extract and baking soda until all ingredients are well combined. Fold in the chopped peanuts.
Pour the brownie mixture into your prepared baking pan. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until done. Let the brownies cool and then cut into bars. Store bars in an airtight storage container.

YOur variation on the brownie recipe is the peanuts. I usually use walnuts, but whichever you use the brownies are delicious.
These look so amazing! I’m always looking for new brownie recipes to try 🙂
If you run out of anyone to make a batch of these great sounding brownies I volunteer 🙂
You usually see walnuts in the brownie recipes but I love the peanut taste. I can find sales on them sometimes for about a dollar a pound too so they are economical. I don’t make a batch of brownies just for me but they are a hit for get-togethers.
This doesn’t look to hard to make. (I’m not a baker). But I do like chocolate and peanuts.
Oddly, as much as I love to bake, I always make brownies from a mix. Looking through your recipe, though, I see that making them from scratch would be just as easy, but probably would taste twice as good. Love the idea of using peanuts instead of walnuts–chocolate and peanut butter is a great combo, so the peanuts should be a natural. Thanks!
I’m allergic to walnuts, but I’m okay with peanuts and peanut butter. To save time…I make up my own brownie mixes. I measure out all of my dry ingredients and place them into a zipper close bag. I label them and put them into my pantry. I put a label onto the front of my bags with what I need in regards to wet ingredients, mixing info, baking time, etc. That way I always have my own pre-made brownie mixes ready to go.
Brownies are one of my husbands favorite treats. I not being aa chocolate person will eat one now and again but he loves them. He has to avoid the nuts now, but these are exactly ye type he likes. Maybe I will be nice and make him some!
I made some brownies last night. We love them. I make them in a mini muffin pan so they come out about the size of Little Bites (the Entenmann’s product.)
Yup, I’ve done that too. I will also bake them in my doughnut baking pan and make mini brownie doughnuts or bake them in my mini bread loaf pans for bake sales.
(Double Chocolate Nut Brownies Recipe) I have not made brownies in along time now. I am going to make these for hubby and I without the nuts though.
