You might be wondering exactly what Performance Dress Socks™ are. Balitello’s made-in-the-USA socks have several features that set them apart from ordinary socks, including:

• Extra cushioning at the toes and heels for comfort, support, and durability
• A “performance arch band,” tightly knit ribbing at the arch for extra support
• Smooth, finely knit microfiber fabric, providing comfort and strength as well as odor and moisture control

Balitello’s Sock of the Month Club has three different plan levels based on length of membership, with discounts for the higher levels. They also offer a small selection of socks available for purchase without joining the club. My husband received two fun pairs of Balitello socks to review, one mid-calf pair with colorful polka dots on a black background called “Spot On,” and a knee-high pair in the “Big Blue: NYC Skyline” design in the New York Giants football team colors. His initial impression was that the socks were extremely comfortable, and after a full day wearing them, he was even more pleased. In particular, he found the padded heels and toes added much more cushioning than he expected. And they didn’t fall down! Here’s a direct quote: “They’re comfy. They really are.”

After he wore the socks, I checked the packaging materials and the Balitello website for laundering instructions, but found none. I opened a chat session on their website to ask about it and was told that it’s okay to put them in the washer and dryer but that I should turn the socks inside-out first. Unfortunately, they shrank a bit after a standard wash-and-dry with like-colored items. Lesson learned. From now on, I’ll let them air dry.
