Once Upon a Piece of Paper – Guide to Collage Making
I love paper crafting and have been enjoying scrapbooking and cardmaking for the past 15+ years. I was dabbling in paper crafting long before it became cool. Matter of fact, scrapbooking is one of the biggest hobbies in America today.
With that said, I’ve never dabbled into collage making with paper. I’ve seen some beautiful paper collages on various craft blogs & Pinterest, but never dabbled in it myself. If you’re interested in this artistic craft medium, read on.
Book Title: Once Upon a Piece of Paper
Author: Andrea D’Aquino
ISBN-13: 9781631592645
Once Upon a Piece of Paper ~ A Visual Guide to Collage Making is a wonderful hardcover craft instruction book that includes a pad of 100 unique collage papers on two-sided sheets. The book itself contains 112 pages and both the book & collage papers store nicely inside a hardcover case.
This kit is a dynamic mix of art-making wisdom, creative inspiration, and fun activities to guide curious artists on the art of collage. Readers are treated to a simple yet sophisticated “look and learn” approach, all in a very special package.
The book is nicely broken down into chapters that talks about the supplies and tools that you need, and then the author teaches you step-by-step some of the paper collage designs that she has made. You can use what you learn to make her featured designs, or take those techniques to come up with your own.
In the “MAKE” section you’ll learn how to do mini compositions, how to design a focal point, how to work within a grid system, how to use recycled/upcycled paper, magazine papers and so much more! I never realized all of the items you can use in collage making until I went through this book.
The included paper pad has a really nice selection of papers inside it to help get you started. Plus, you have “paper items” all around your house that you can add to the papers in the pad and really get yourself started quickly.
Now that we’re into the throws of winter and spending a lot of time indoors, I think this is a great craft medium to get into. Plus, it’s an arts & craft hobby that is affordable and won’t break the bank, since you can use all kinds of “paper items” you find while traveling, at work or around your home. You can put all of those paper scraps to good use and come up with some amazing designs!
