GIRLS®: THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON was just released for purchase on Blu-ray and DVD on January 3rd, 2017. The Blu-rayTM and DVD sets both feature a free digital download of all 10 episodes, plus exclusive bonus content including more than two dozen never-before-seen deleted and extended scenes.
Before the highly-anticipated final season kicks off this winter, check out the “spectacular” (Vulture) fifth season of the Emmy®- and Golden Globe-winning HBO comedy Girls. Starring and created by Lena Dunham and executive produced by Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner, the hit series follows the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their mid-20s—each facing new challenges in life and love.
As Season 5 begins, Hannah (Lena Dunham) has put her writing ambitions aside and is teaching alongside Fran (Jake Lacy), her new boyfriend. Marnie (Allison Williams) realizes that she needs more space after her honeymoon with Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). While working towards becoming a therapist, Jessa (Jemima Kirke) also manages a budding relationship. And Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) is thriving at her new job in Japan, flirting with her boss despite her long-distance relationship with Scott (Jason Ritter). Honest and uproarious, with unexpected surprise turns, the fifth season of Girls promises to maintain the series’ place as one of the most talked-about shows on television.
Our Thoughts: We had never heard of this television series until this DVD review and since we’ve been itching to find some new TV series to watch…we jumped onto the chance to review the complete 5th season on DVD.
I first want to state that I love that this show features the stories and lives of young girls. Each of their lives are different, but yet…they intertwine. What’s really cool is that even those these young women are in their 20’s, their stories are totally relatable. These women are entertaining, funny and the acting is spot-on with the characters that they play. It’s a face-paced series with something new going on with each & every episode, which keeps viewers coming back for more. Even as a woman in her late 40’s, I found the series to be enjoyable and I’ll be tuning in to see how everything plays out during their final season.

I have heard of this but haven’t yet watched it. I am glad to know that the stories are relatable even though the girls are in their twenties. I had figured that I was probably the wrong demographic for it.
I never watched this series, but now that i have read your review I shall tune in to HBO when we subscribe to the Premium channels . It sounds like an interesting series.
I watched some of Girls when we were getting HBO, but haven’t seen it since we decided to get rid of the premium channels. It was a good one.
