The big football game is coming up and my husband is already planning out the menu for his annual Superbowl party that we host here at our home. Every year we invite friends & family over to our house to watch the big game and to enjoy some delicious tasting food and cocktails. If they bring along a dish with them, that’s even better!
Today I’m sharing a guest-post recipe with all of you from Recipe by Chef Anthony Stewart from Pritikin Longevity Center + Spa. This recipe will make approximately twelve 1/4 cup servings.
Delicious Tropical Salsa Recipe
1 red onion diced
1 tablespoon garlic minced
2 tablespoons tomato sauce (no-salt-added )
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco
1 mango peeled and diced
1 cup pineapple diced
1 cup papaya peeled and diced
1 tomato diced
1 tablespoon oregano (fresh) chopped
2 tablespoons basil (fresh) chopped
Garnish green onions chopped (optional)
Garnish chives chopped (optional)
In a small nonstick skillet over low heat, saute red onion, garlic, tomato sauce, and Tabasco until well combined, about 5 minutes. Stir regularly. In a large mixing bowl, gently combine remaining ingredients (except garnishes). Spoon red onion mixture into bowl, and gently toss all ingredients until combined. If desired, garnish with a sprinkling of green onions and/or chives.
Recipe Notes: The chefs at Pritikin have created the best ever mango recipes because all their recipes deliver everything that’s great for us, like great flavor and great nutrition, and virtually nothing that’s harmful, like saturated fat, sugar, and salt.
This Tropical Salsa recipe has just about everything that’s deliciously divine, from mangoes to pineapple, but absolutely nothing that’s bad for you. No salt, no added sugar, no waist-expanding oil or other fat.
This recipe is another delicious yet healthy one. i would love to make this for my family.
This looks so delicious and flavorful. It makes me want to do some grilling so that I could serve it with grilled fish or turkey burgers. Mangos are a favorite of mine and love to have different salsa recipes to use them in.
That salsa recipe looks delicious. I bet it would taste great with fish tacos.
I love me a good salsa recipe! This is such a unique take on it 🙂
This sounds quite good. Although I am not a fan of anything but traditional salsa I would use this for a few other things. I think this would be terrific on chops or pork . I would like this too on turkey or chicken, I might try this as an alternative dip for game day.
I love having a ton of food for the big game and I love me some salsa. I have never had tropical salsa before and this recipe sounds super yummy. I really want to make this the pineapple and papaya sound so good. Thank you for sharing this recipe and I hope you enjoy the game and I hope the commercials are good this year.
Oh, this sounds just tropical enough to remind me of Summer, lol. Maybe I can fool myself into believing Winter is over.
I just love every recipe from Pritikin that you feature. I’ve gone to their web site for more recipes and see why they’re so popular. I wouldn’t think to put just a quarter teaspoon Tabasco into a salsa mix but I bet it adds some zip. I watch salt, sugar and fat and these recipes do too and never disappoint.
