Two years ago I jumped onto the adult coloring book bandwagon and have been enjoying it ever since. If you enjoy adult coloring, you already know how important it is to have a great set of gel pens on-hand for all of your coloring needs. With that said, not all gel ink pens are created equally. Some will rip your paper, bleed through your paper and take a long time to dry.
When it comes to purchasing gel ink pens or glitter ink pens to use with adult coloring books, scrapbooking, cardmaking or with other paper crafts, it’s important to buy the right ones!
When I shop for my glitter & gel ink pens, I look at the color options. I love big sets that feature unique colors. After all, if I’m buying a big set, I don’t want 4 or 5 of the same color…I want a lot of different color options!
Next, I want the “ball of the pen” to roll around on my paper easily, without freezing up or tearing my paper. The ink should glide smoothly across the paper, should not skip and it shouldn’t leave big ink globs all over the place. Another thing to consider is how quickly does the ink dry? I don’t mind a handful of minutes, but I’m not waiting around for hours for it to completely dry. Smearing can be an issue with pens that take forever to dry!
Over the past few months I’ve been testing out various manufacturer’s brands for my own personal use and sharing some of my thoughts about them right here on the blog. I know many of you are also into paper crafting and/or adult coloring.
On Amazon I stumbled upon a brand that I had never heard of before and decided to purchase them. (Yes, I purchased them, they were NOT provided to me for an official review). The brand is called Artlicious 100 Unique Gel Pens Set that comes in a clear acrylic storage box.
One of the reasons I decided to try them was for the simple fact that you get no duplicate colors in the set. This means that all 100 of the gel ink pens are a different color! Yay! You get 19 metallic colors, 4 standard colors, 14 glitter & neon colors, 29 glitter colors, 18 neon colors and 16 pastel colors. A really nice selection of colors and finishes from metallic to glitter.
They are acid-free, non-toxic and safe for use with all of your paper crafts. Each of the tips ranges from 0.8 to 1.0 MM in size, so they are great for drawing fine lines or coloring in very small areas. I love using them on very detailed designs. Each one holds approximately 60% more ink, according to the manufacturer. As a heavy gel pen user, I can attest that they do last longer than the previous two brands that I was using.
Overall, I’m very pleased with my purchase! They are super affordable and you get 100 unique colors (no duplicates) in your set. I’ll definitely be purchasing them again!

I have not yet tried to do adult coloring, and these are great tips. I do love that this set has 100 different colored gel ink pens.
These look very good. I hate it when ink smears or globs up and makes a mess of the paper. So frustrating when one is in the middle of a project. 100 different colors would be fun to work with.
(Adult Coloring: Tips for Buying Gel Ink Pens) I would like to have a set of these for working on my adult coloring books.
I don’t do the adult coloring but I have a friend who does. These would make a great present for her.
