When you are planning an amazing vacation in faraway paradise, it’s important to make sure that you choose the right swimwear to take with you. The type of swimsuit you choose depends on where you are going and what you plan on doing. You want to attract attention but for the wrong reasons, so it’s important to choose the right suit or suits that will work for the occasion. Here are a few top vacation activities and spots and suggestions on what to pack for them.
Active Vacation
If you are planning on doing a lot of activities, like surfing or playing games on the beach, then you will want to choose swimwear that will keep you covered and let you move. You can go with a two or one piece style. Both have their pros and cons.
With bikinis, you have to watch for fancy styles with strings that may come undone. Also, be careful with support. You should have good support in the top because it is pretty easy for a top to come loose as you move along.
In general, with a one-piece, you have to be sure to get a good fit. If it isn’t cut right or doesn’t fit well, it can come down at the top or rise up at the bottom as you move.
On either one, you should choose a more generously cut bottom. It will stay in place and not creep up on you. They will allow you to stay active without having to worry you are flashing everyone. In addition, you want to make sure you get a top that offers full support. Finally, it’s probably best to avoid suits that are too fancy. The more working parts or embellishments, the more chances for something to go wrong. So, keep it simple.
Island Hopping
If you’ll be traveling in an island locale, remember the people here are used to wearing swimsuits all the time. They have also probably seen it all. If you want to give a thong a shot, then the islands would be the place to do it. In fact, fuller coverage suits may make you feel a bit out of place and one-piece suits are probably going to be scarce. In this world where the sun is almost always shining and the temperature is always right, less is more.
For island locales, you also can get away with more flashy styles. Try out bright colors and bold patterns. Consider designer suits with embellishments and shiny materials. You can really try out anything because nobody will be judging you. They will just be taking in the fun and sun.
Hot Spots
If you are hitting a hot spot, then you have the best chance for a sexy suit. Cut outs, strings everywhere and risky fabrics will all fit in at a popular vacation spot. You will probably see a ton of people doing their own thing, so feel free to do your own thing. The rules are usually loose, so just take notes from what others are wearing. Before you go, look at pictures, ask friends who have been there, and read fashion blogs. You are likely to find that you can really go with anything you want and you’ll fit in.
Conservative Areas
If you are going to a more conservative area, then it really helps to plan ahead. When you are visiting, you have to show respect for the local culture in what style of swimwear you choose. You would definitely not want to stroll on the beach in something skimpy and flashy in a city like Dubai. You should go with a one-piece that is subtle in style and fuller in coverage. It’s also a good idea to plan for some good cover-ups for when you leave the beach area. In some areas, there are even laws about what you can and cannot wear, so make sure to check this out, too, before deciding on a swim suit.
Choosing your swimwear for a vacation can be a lot of fun. It is a good idea, though, to consider where you are going when you make your choices. It’s important to think about the acceptable styles at your chosen locale. You want to make the right statement when you head to the beach. Not to mention, you don’t want to end up choosing a suit that will embarrass you or get you in trouble.
These are good tips for which type of swimsuit is good for a specific location. I have both 2 piece and one piece suits, so I can choose the best one for the area.
I have several pieces in the same color theme and can mix and match with bikinis, tankinis, one-piece suits and swim skirts. I love the little swim skirts and have one in black that gets a lot of wear. Light weight cover ups are a must too. I like playing sports, not so much sitting around sunning, so my suits need to be supportive above all else.
I swim 3 times a week and have several suits. They are all one piece since those fit me best. I like Land’s End No Tug suits best.
It is so hard to find the right swim suit. It keeps getting harder the older I get! I like the idea of choosing your swim suit based on where you are going. I don’t think everyone thinks that trough.
Thank you for the great tips. It has been forever since I have purchased a new swimsuit and I sure need a new one for the upcoming season.
