Ernest Hemingway was one of the most famous writers in the entire world. When I was in high school and during my early college years, I remember that a lot of our writing assignments would center around Mr. Hemingway and his writing. From that time forward, I’ve been a fan.
Now you can bring home a newly discovered chapter in the life of Literary Legend Ernest Hemingway on Digital HD on October 11th and DVD October 25th, 2016.
Synopsis: In 1959, Miami journalist and aspiring writer Ed Myers (Giovanni Ribisi) travels to Havana to meet his idol, Ernest Hemingway (Adrian Sparks). A fascinating and unexpected friendship develops as the legendary author mentors young Myers in deep-sea fishing, drinking — and finding his literary voice — while the Cuban Revolution comes to a boil around them. The first U.S. movie filmed in Cuba in more than half a century, Papa: Hemingway in Cuba offers an extraordinary glimpse into the life of a uniquely American icon.
My Thoughts: As someone who is somewhat familiar with Ernest Hemingway, I found this movie totally engaging and it really does give you a glimpse into his life. The acting in this movie is spot-on and the actors did a really great job with the parts that they played. The story line flows really nicely and keeps you entertained from start to finish. Even if you’re not a Hemingway fan, I think you’ll enjoy this movie due to the entertaining story line and you really get to see Cuba in a way that most Americans have never seen. Wow, even though it’s a poor country, it sure does look beautiful.
On my entertainment rating scale, I would give this movie 7 popcorn buckets out of 10 popcorn buckets. It’s a good movie, I’m glad that I got a chance to see it and I would definitely buy it. However, it’s not one of those types of movies that you want to watch over & over again. Hope that makes sense! My hubby gives the movie a tad higher rating at 8 popcorn buckets on his rating scale. Go figure!

I always hope that movies about literary figures are well done. I am sure my husband and I would enjoy seeing this movie about this part of Ernest Hemingway’s life and would also like looking at the Cuban scenery.
It’s always nice when an intelligent movie meant for grownups comes out. It’s interesting to see a movie actually filmed in Cuba, too. That would add an element of realism to it.
I’ve never heard of this movie before. It looks like something my husband and I might be interested in watching.
My spouse is a great admirer of Hemingway and his work, so I’m kind of surprised I’ve never heard of this movie. I’m sure we’ll be adding to our must-see list. Thanks for your review.
I saw something about this film ages ago, then it was never in the theater near me (even the art house). I would love to see it. I adore his work (Hemingway) and I like Giovanni Ribisi too.
