Each claw is made out of food-grade stainless steel with wood handles. There are 6 stainless steel tines on each meat fork which really allow you to grab a hold of the meat and hold it into place. If you’re looking to shred up your meat, they are sharp enough to do that too! They are heat resistant up to 450 degrees.
One of the things I love about these claws is that they’re made out of stainless steel and not plastic! I’m getting away from all plastic food prep items, due to the possible hazard of chemicals from plastic leeching into our foods. On top of that, plastic easily breaks, warps, cracks and holds-in stains. Ewww…plastic just gets ugly-looking, fast!
The wooden handles fit really comfortably in your hands and are heat resistant. When you are holding them, they really allow you to get a good grip onto the claws, so that your hands are not sliding around. The meat claws are semi-weighty, so you know you’re holding a quality-made piece in your hands.
You can use these meat claws to grasp onto large items that need to be carved, chopped or sliced. You can use them to actually shred up your meat or poultry. Boy this would be great for when we do pulled pork sandwiches. They look so sturdy so know they would do a good job without breaking. The wood handles look easy to get a grip on.
I have seen these in use and they do work welll. I like how you can lift the meat easily and not get burned. You can also work with meat that is still quite hot and not get nasty burns. I saw these used for pulled pork when they had aa BBQ competition here in town and it was very quick!
I thought about buying these in order to shred meat, but they would also be great for holding a roast in place while you slice it with the other hand.
