How many of you enjoy shopping at flea markets, yard sales, consignment stores or at second-hand stores? For me personally, I love hitting up the flea market and every once in awhile…I’ll enjoy shopping at a yard sale if I can find a good one or a multi-family one going on near our neighborhood.

Back in October my husband and I drove an hour away to visit a large indoor & outdoor flea market that we’ve never been to before. It’s called the Green Dragon and is located in Ephrata Pennsylvania.
One of the cool things about this flea market is that it’s a combination flea market, farmer’s market and auction site. On top of that…they have regular craft stores, butcher shops, candy stores, deli stores and little mom & pop cafe’s & eateries that are there week after week. Sad thing though, this place is only open on Friday’s from 9 AM to 9 PM…so you have to take off work to go if you don’t live nearby. Sigh. I wish they were open all weekend!

On our first visit there I purchased some fresh meats from one of the butcher shops, some deli meats & cheeses, 2 boxes of freshly made fudge and out in the flea market area I found this super large, brand new Thanksgiving Turkey Platter for only $2.00. Yup, I snagged it up! You can always use more than one platter when it comes to holiday meals.
So, have you found any great bargains or deals in the past 2 weeks? If so, tell me about them!
I love going to flea markets and thrift shops, but with having to move I have not had the time. Now I can look for them in my new area. Your platter is vdry cut and a great buy too.
What a great bargain for such a cute platter. No bargains for me this week but I will be looking for Thanksgiving centerpieces or decorations after the holiday. Maybe I’ll find a platter as nice as yours for next year.
I love going to flea markets and haven’t been to one in so many years. That is a super cute tray and for only $2.00 that is amazing and so fun when you find a deal like that.
I think yours is cuter than one I bought recently–mine is a platter that looks like a big orange pumpkin, lol. Hey, it was cheap & we always need platters! Of course if I use it at Easter or something, people are going to be confused!!
What a really pretty platter! I love going to flea markets and thrift stores and finding great deals. I have a turkey platter but not as nice as this one!
This is a really pretty plate and I would love to have one for our Thanksgiving meal. It would also make a really good gift!
I really don’t know where there are flea markets around here. I’ve seen swap meets advertised on local TV but don’t feel like driving for over an hour to get there. I’m also trying to let go more than I take in, so better not to tempt me. I have a lot of fabrics I’ve kept over the years and I’m willing to part with a lot of other things just to keep that treasured stash.
That’s a very fun platter. Only open one day a week on Friday? That doesn’t seem very thrifty of them.
What a great platter–it’s wonderfully kitschy. My mother had a special platter for Thanksgiving and every year when she pulled it out, we’d all laugh because it was so ugly it was pretty. I loved that thing. I wonder what happened to it… Anyway, I scored a small Crock-Pot this week at a local surplus and salvage store. It was $10, is a lot for me to spend but I really have been wanting one and this 4.5-quart model is just what I’ve been looking for, so I splurged. I’m trying not to feel too guilty about it.
We used to visit something similar to this when I was a kid. I wish we had something like that nearby now…it sounds like its worth taking the whole day off for! Nice platter by the way!
I have actually been trying to cut things down lately. We have lived here 30 years, and used t go to flea markets, auctions, you name it. Everything is filled up with treasures. I have boxes of other peoples stuff they have stored here, I think next spring, it is going to change
I love the platter, and like the idea you can get meats and cheeses and homemade goodies! I bet they would make scads more if they were open weekends.
