For the past 7 years I’ve been buying and/or reviewing toys and games from the company called Educational Insights. If you’re unfamiliar with this company, They’re the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!
We get together with our granddaughter several times a month for play dates, movie dates and game night. Just last weekend she spent the night with us and I’m super excited to feature that game today as part of our Annual Holiday Gift Guide.
Game Name: Sophie’s Seashell Scramble
By: Educational Insights
Ages: 3 and up
Players: 2-4
Sophie the Otter is searching for snacks in the sea. Help her find the shells she seeks by spinning the spinner and using the Sophie Squeezer to pick up a shell with the matching pattern. But look out ~ there’s something fishy in these waters! You could spin “steal a shell” or play “press your luck” with Otto the Octopus! Spin Otto or your selected shell pattern and win an extra shell, but spin anything else and this meanie mollusk will throw your shell back into the sea! Fill your Shell Snack Mat with matching shells first, and you win!
This educational game will help teach children pattern matching, hand-to-eye coordination, fine motor skills and the game play itself helps to develop strategic thinking skills and social skills.
When the Princess was here last weekend we sat down to play this game. It took us less than 5 minutes to set the game up and to read over the basic instructions on how to play it. We then got busy playing it and taking turns. One of the things I love about this game is that it doesn’t take HOURS to play. Second, you all know that I love anything & everything to do with the beach, so this game was definitely up my alley. Third, it’s compact and light-weight…so it’s a great game to take with you when you travel or if the kids are going to grandma’s house for a sleepover. A very simple game that provides a lot of fun and every time you play it…it’s different! At the age of 7 1/2 years old, the Princess has already fallen in-love with this game and we’ve played three times already. What a great game to purchase for the kids on your holiday gift-giving list this year!

I think that this game would be fun to play with our grandson; Brownie Match™ Game
Item # 3417 Ages 3-6
$19.99
The Big Idea
Players take turns spinning the spinner and flipping the brownie they think hides the matching number. Make a match and scoop it up with the spatula, but be on the lookout for special spins, like burnt brownies and spilt milk! You might just lose a brownie or a turn. Collect five brownies first to win!
