7 Secrets to Help You Determine if Your SEO Service is Helping or Hurting You

November 17, 2016 by Sam H.

7 Secrets to Help You Determine if Your SEO Service is Helping or Hurting YouAs is the case with all service industries, you expect everything from excellent to downright fraudulent and unscrupulous search engine optimization agencies. Understanding the qualities of a good SEO service will help you make informed decisions.

1. The agency has nothing to show

You expect a good SEO agency to show you what it has done in the past. You can get this information directly (and verify it) or through testimonials, comments, reviews, and ratings. You should, however, not judge an agency by not seeing quick results. SEO campaigns only bear fruits a few months after initiation. You, however, expect to see an SEO audit, analysis of your website’s link profile, and keyword and competitor analysis within the first few weeks. If you find your current SEO efforts lacking in this area, it might be beneficial to consult with a dedicated competitor analysis agency to gain a detailed understanding of your market landscape.

An effective SEO agency may also use a keyword clustering tool to group related keywords, enhancing the relevance and structure of your content for better SEO performance.

2. The agency does not ask for anything

If the agency you’ve hired is not asking for anything, this should raise a flag. A good agency realizes that although it has experience, it is you who knows exactly what you need. You expect the agency to ask for such things as:

• Admin or editor access to your CMS
• Admin or viewer access to Google Analytics,
• Access to Google Search Console (previously Google Webmaster Tools)
• Access to your social media accounts
• Your suggestion on target keywords
• Past SEO work, audits, and Google penalties

3. The agency has no suggestions for improvements

An SEO agency that does not make suggestions on how to improve your SEO either has not started working on your site or does not know what it is doing. The Best SEO Agency is one that offers tips on where your site could be better and has specific, constructive feedback. They should be able to formulate a strategy plan for you to follow. Do some research on White, Grey, and Black Hat SEO so you know if the suggestions you are getting are good or bad.

4. The agency does not share its techniques

Good SEO services USA that not only share exactly what they are doing, but that also trains your employees should you wish to take up the campaign in the future. Be wary of agencies that say their efforts are confidential or that is vague in its answers.

5. You get a Google manual penalty

If you get a GWT email message or notification (a manual penalty) within 1 or 2 months after enlisting the services of an SEO agency, you should be very worried. This is an indication that Black Hat SEO tactics might have been used.

6. Your ranking and/or traffic drops

No matter the excuse you get, there’s never a reason for ranking or traffic to suddenly drop as a result of SEO efforts. Investigate the cause of the drop because it might be caused by an unrelated issue.

7. Overly low rates

Although it is the aim of every dental clinic to cut website marketing costs, an SEO agency that charges overly low rates should raise an alarm. This is an indication that the company has not invested in the right tools or SEO experts. You also need to be scared if the company asks you for all the money before the work is complete.

Do not place your trust in an SEO company blindly. Read reviews and check ratings to get the best company.
