5 Cosmetics Brands for People With Sensitive Skin

November 9, 2016 by Carol

If you have sensitive skin, you know how hard it is to find cosmetics that won’t make your skin start to burn, itch, or turn red. Luckily, cosmetic brands are listening and have come out with lines specifically created for those with sensitive skin. Help keep your skin looking clear and healthy with these top brands.

Almay

Almay was one the first brands to introduce hypoallergenic cosmetics, the first brand to create 100 percent fragrance-free products, and the first brand to put its cosmetics through strict allergy testing. In fact, Almay is so stringent about the ingredients that go into its cosmetics, fewer than 500 of the more than 10,000 ingredients available will meet their standards. If you’re looking for something to leave your lips soft and smooth, consider the Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick.

Sephora

If you often find your eyelids feeling irritated or itchy when you use red, purple, or pink eyeshadow, you might be allergic to red dye. If this is the case, consider a neutral, green, or brown eyeshadow to prevent an allergic reaction. Sephora offers many brands that make eyeshadow for those with sensitive eyes. Tarte has a line of neutral eyeshadow that will make your eyes pop without irritating your skin. For your sensitive eyes, also consider the Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara, which contains no petrochemicals or synthetic fragrances.

Colorescience

If you’re looking for a complete cosmetics line that has everything from sunscreen to makeup, Colorescience has you covered. Unlike other brands, Colorescience doesn’t include fragrances, dyes, alcohol, mineral oil, talc, or fillers in its cosmetics. Additionally, the makeup has sunscreen made with titanium and zinc. Not only are these ingredients better for sensitive skin than conventional sunscreen chemicals, it also makes it easy to protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays year-round.

Josie Maran

During Josie Maran’s modeling career, she saw all too often what the harsh chemicals in cosmetics could do to skin. When she discovered that argan oil could leave skin smooth without making it greasy, she knew she wanted to create a cosmetics line that would be ideal for women with sensitive skin. If you want to add a little color to your cheeks, pick up the Argan Color Stick. You can even use it on your lips for a quick pop of color. The color stick has no chemicals, fragrances, or parabens that can irritate your skin.

Bath & Body Works

Known for amazing scents from its line of lotions, body washes, and candles, Bath & Body Works also has a cosmetics line ideal for sensitive skin. The company has teamed up with Dr. Patricia Wexler to create the Patricia Wexler M.D. Dermatology skin care line. From skin brightening lotions to cleansers that contain olive oil, you can find a product that makes you look and feel great while soothing sensitive skin.

Having sensitive skin doesn’t mean you have to completely avoid cosmetics. These brands offer a range of cosmetics especially formulated for your skin care needs.
