Sip Some Refreshing Shandy Beer from the Traveler Beer Company
There are so many things to love about fall—changing leaves, football games, pumpkin everything and cooler weather (unless you live in Southern California where it is 95 degrees today)! I also love to enjoy a delicious seasonal beer and as luck would have it, I received two of them on my doorstep.
Before I give you my thoughts on these seasonal sippers, let me give you a little information on the company. The Traveler Beer Company started in 2012 as the House of Shandy Beer Company, with the mission of combining the European Shandy tradition with American craft beer ingenuity to create the first American craft Shandy. In 2013, the company was renamed to become the Traveler Beer Company, which is all about freedom and exploration.
My husband and I love to sit on the patio on a sunny day and enjoy a drink or two. We did this with the two Traveler Beer Shandys that we received. We tried out the Traveler Grapefruit Shandy and the Count Traveler Blood Orange Shandy. Here are my thoughts on both of these brews.
Traveler Grapefruit Shandy – this is a really interesting beer with a little bit of grapefruit tartness blended with a wheat beer. I’m a huge fan of wheat beers and I especially love when they have a hint of fruit to them. That’s what makes this beer awesome—it’s not too sweet or too tart. It was the perfect blend and had a nice, bright finish to it. There are several great recipes you can make with this beer as well such as the Traveling Bandito or the Sweet Salty Dog. This was my favorite of the two.
Sweet Salty Dog Recipe
Fill a shaker glass halfway with ice. Pour in 1 shot gin, a half shot grapefruit juice, 1 tsp honey and a pinch of salt. Shake and strain into a pint glass filled with ice. Fill to top with Grapefruit Traveler.
Count Traveler Blood Orange Shandy – this beer is a seasonal selection from the Traveler Fall Variety Pack. It is a little bit bolder than the Grapefruit Shandy and in my opinion, a little bit sweeter. It has some floral notes to it and is really smooth and quite tasty. As I mentioned, this is a seasonal selection, so pick some up before they are gone.
You can find these great beers throughout the country by simply going to the Traveler Beer Company website and putting in your zip code.
