If you love garlic flavored chicken wings with a little bit of heat, I think you’ll really appreciate this guest-post recipe that utilizes Nando’s PERi-PERi Sauce. The recipe makes 4 servings. This is definitely my type of recipe and looks like a great one for some weekend grilling.
Glazed Garlic and Ginger Chicken Wings Recipe
½ cup Nando’s PERi-PERi Sauce
6 cloves garlic, peeled
1 small onion, peeled and quartered
A 3-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and cut into ¼-inch slices
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
¼ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons coarse salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3 pounds whole chicken wings (about 12 wings)
Ingredients, for the glaze:
½ stick salted butter
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Place ½ cup of Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce, garlic, onion, ginger, cilantro, oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper in a blender and puree until smooth. Transfer the marinade to a large bowl or roasting pan. Rinse chicken wings under cold running water and blot dry. Cut wings in half, discarding the tips. Add the wings to the marinade and stir to coat. Marinate in the refrigerator, covered, for at least 6 hours, stirring occasionally.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the cilantro and garlic and cook until sizzling and aromatic, about 2 minutes; do not let the garlic brown. Stir in the Nando’s PERi-PERi Sauce and lemon juice and let the glaze simmer until blended and flavorful, about 2 minutes. Pre-heat grill for medium heat. Leave one section of the grill fire-free, for a safety zone. Arrange the wings skin side down and grill until crisp and golden brown, 8 to 12 minutes per side. Should any flare-ups occur, move the wings to the safety zone.
To test, make a small cut in the thickest part a wing; there should be no traces of red or pink at the bone. Transfer the grilled wings to a platter and pour the hot glaze over them. Toss to mix, then serve at once.
Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce is packed with flavor because it is made with sun-ripened lemons, onion, a dash of garlic and blended with our special ingredient – the African Bird’s Eye Chilli pepper straight out of southern Africa. PERi-PERi (Swahili for ‘pepper pepper’) is the heart and soul of Nando’s PERi-PERi and the secret ingredient behind Nando’s 1,200 restaurants worldwide. One bite, and you will be hooked. It’s flavor and fire in a bottle.

I have a feeling that my son and husband would really like this recipe. It seems like it would be a perfect snack for watching football games.
These sound awfully good. Oftentimes we hold football parties especially during playoffs. Wings of course are a staple. I always like to make different types of wings, and the folks would love them. I would think you could cook them many ways! I havnt heard of that sauce either.
This is a delicious recipe and I would love to try it. I could also use these spices on a whole chicken and barbecue it.
I think the flavors in this sound great. I would probably put them on chicken thighs or breasts though, because I always think wings just have very little ‘eatin” on them, lol.
I really like the ingredients you used. This looks so delicious and flavorful! I’d love to make this.
I’ve never heard of this PERi-PERi Sauce but I keep a big bag of dried red peppers around and chopped up enough to keep ready to add to meals almost daily. I think it’s great for your digestion. This recipe has all my faves too–garlic, onions, ginger and yummy cilantro.
I’ll take most anything cooked with garlic & ginger & lemon. This looks like a great recipe.
I have to make this recipe for game night. This sauce sounds heavenly and one the whole family will just love thanks for sharing and have a nice night enjoy the World Series.
Okay where do you get the sauce at I would like to try it in a slow cooker
