Fun Frugal Finds: Getting Deals at the Flea Market

Frugal Finds and Hot DealsTime for another Fun Frugal Finds blog post! Last weekend we went to Pennsylvania’s Largest Indoor & Outdoor Flea Market & Farmer’s Market called Saturday’s Market. We are really fortunate that we ONLY live 15 minutes away and can get down there pretty frequently.

Sometimes when we go to the flea market I find very little and other times when we go…well, I’ll come home with a trunk full of stuff! This last time, I made out really good and was totally happy with all of my bargain finds!

Flea Market Finds and Deals

As most of you know, I decorate in a coastal & beach style. A few weeks ago the kids broke one of my glass candy dishes and at the flea market I found this gorgeous aqua-colored glass candy dish for $1.00. I love it and it looks beautiful sitting on a side table in my living room.

Next, during the holiday season I decorate my family room in a snowman theme. The rest of my house gets beachy Christmas decorations but I do decorate the family room in a traditional snowman style. I picked up this ceramic stoneware snowman candle holder at the flea market for $1.00. It will hold a votive candle inside his body and I’m going to place a battery-operated candle in him when the holiday season arrives.

Turquoise Wall Clock

One guy had a booth set up where he was selling all kinds of brand new clocks and watches. He had a new turquoise colored wall clock with silver colored numerals and I fell in-love with it. I knew it would be the perfect clock for my coastal-style kitchen. I’ve been looking for kitchen items in aqua & turquoise colors. The clock had a price tag on it from a retail store for $19.99 but he sold me the (new in the box) wall clock for $5.00. What a deal.  I love how big the numerals are and I can read the clock from across the room. It’s nothing fancy but I love how it looks in my kitchen.

Along with those items, my husband picked up a gently-used table saw for $5.00 and I got an old metal watering can for $1.00 and an old metal wash basin for $5.00. I’m going to put garden plants & flowers inside them next year and set them out in my garden. I’ve seen others do that in magazine gardening features and now I can do it too and I’m doing it on the cheap!

So, have you grabbed any great bargains, steals, deals and/or clearance items lately? Do you enjoy going to the flea market? If so, what kinds of things do you shop for when you’re there?
