With the holidays fast approaching, it’s time for us to start looking for the best gifts for all the kids in your life! Not only is it important to find gifts they will love, but this is a great opportunity for us to make a difference in the world while holiday shopping.
Kahiniwalla is a business which distributes Fair Trade products and tells the story behind those products. They care about the quality of their products, how they’re made with the bigger picture in mind. Pebble is one of these products designed by Samantha Morshed, a social entrepreneur based in Bangladesh. Samantha’s vision for Pebble of providing a place close to rural homes in Dhaka where women could work flexible hours was just what over 12,000 rural women were looking for. These rural workplaces provide a welcome alternative to women moving to a large city to work in the garment industry leaving their families behind and making themselves vulnerable to unsafe, unjust and sometimes violent situations.
Knowing the Pebble products are ethically made makes them that much more amazing! Gifts like the Blue Motif Star Bunny are not only adorable and cuddly, but they are made from 100% organic cotton! This precious bunny face is sure to capture the heart of your child and you will feel good knowing that you contributed to making a better life for the women in rural Bangladesh.
For this review feature I selected the Green Octopus Ornament to review. I decorate one of my Christmas trees in a coastal & beach theme and wanted a new ornament to represent my 15 month old grandson. I put ONLY coastal ornaments on that tree and so far, I only had one ornament for my grandson. Thanks to this fabulous company, I now have two!
This ornament is handcrafted and made from organic yarns. The woman who made this ornament is a great at her handicraft and did impeccable work. I crochet myself and the stitching done on this particular item is fantastic! Beautifully worked & completed.
It measures just under 3″ in height and has a little hanging loop on the top. The octopus facial features are hand-embroidered onto it’s face and I love the tropical colors of the yarn: turquoise, white and seafoam green. The facial features are done in blue & white. His entire body is stuffed lightly which gives him the 3-dimensional look. I love that it’s light-weight and won’t pull down the branches on my tree.
My pictures don’t show it hanging on my tree, but once I get our Christmas tree out in a few weeks & get it set up, I’ll come back and update this post with a photo of that. For now, I think you can get a good idea on how cute it is just with the two photos that I’m featuring today.
You can learn more about the company, it’s work & mission, and shop for their adorable handcrafted products by visiting kahiniwalla.com.

That will make such a lovely addition to your tree! It’s adorable!
Yes, these are very good products to buy. Help others and get cute gifts.
I think it is wonderful to be able to purchase products and gifts and know that you are also helping poor people rather than enriching big companies. These colors are perfect for your coastal theme.
