Welch's Fruit Snacks Halloween Candy

We get hit with over 75+ Trick or Treaters every year, so I always make sure that I’m well-stocked with a variety of Halloween treats! I like to offer “non-candy” options to kid’s who don’t eat candy or prefer something else, I offer little individual packs of Gerber Baby Food to the littlest ones who visit my home and all kinds of chocolate, dried fruit and nut snacks for the others. Plus, some of these options are my personal favorites, so it’s nice to have those “extras” on-hand for my own personal snacking consumption.

A big hit with my 2 little grandchildren are the Welch’s Fruit Snacks in mixed fruit flavors. Have you ever tried them? They’re an excellent source of Vitamin C, a good source for Vitamins A & E, Fat-Free, Gluten Free and contain no preservatives. If you want to offer Trick or Treater’s something yummy and fruity, these are a great option if you want to avoid the chocolate.

Another big hit, especially with the older children, teens and adults is those delicious Sunkist Trail Mix Fruit & Nut Snack Packs! We love them in the Pineapple Coconut Blend and in the Strawberry Banana Blend.  The Pineapple Coconut Blend contains pieces of dried pineapple, cranberries, almonds, papaya, cashews and coconut. The Strawberry Banana Blend contains pieces of strawberries, cashews, papaya, cranberries, almonds and banana chips. YUMMY!  They contain no artificial colors or flavors.

Here are a few additional tips:

Don’t buy your Halloween candy the day after Halloween and save it for next year! No one wants to eat stale goodies! You’re giving treats out to children, so it’s best to give recently purchased treats!

The majority of parents will NOT allow their children to eat homemade goodies, so please avoid making them & handing them out. This is especially true with parents who do NOT personally know you.

Offer a variety of different treats! Some children may be allergic to nuts, others allergic to chocolate and so forth. I feel it’s best to offer at least 2 different edible treats and 1 non-edible treat when it comes to Trick or Treat night.

Don’t forget the babies! These days parents will take out their 6 month old’s to go Trick or Treating with their older siblings! If you can, have something on hand for the babies too!

Avoid purchasing any treats that need to be refrigerated. Make sure you check out package expiration dates and product recall lists too! It’s always better to be safe, than sorry.

  1. I just went out this morning to look for some Halloween candy. We usually get 100+ of all ages so need to have lots of treats on hand. I like the idea of getting some of the fruit snacks as something different to offer.

  2. Susan Hartman says

I get between 300 – 400 trick or treaters. Its so much fun. I decorate my front porch and sit out there greeting them. I bought a lot of cookie pkgs, tattoos, cheese its & ring pops so far. Can’t wait.

  3. We live in a rural area, and it’s been years since we’ve had any trick-or-treaters. I always make a point of having some just-in-case candy on hand, though, usually my favorite, because somebody has to eat it after Halloween–ha! Before we lived here, though, I liked to get some non-candy treats, too, like pencils, which always seems to go over well.

I remember a house we went to would give out toothbrushes different but useful

We dont get trick or treaters just tricksters and not the good kind. The kids around here normally go to events the stores or organizations are throwing. I used to give about everything on the list hen we lived elsewhere. I always liked the candy bars!

  6. Jo-Ann Brightman says

I love the idea of the fruit and/or nut snack bags as treats. I never thought to hand out Gerber baby packets. I do sometimes give pencils or tattoos.

  7. Tamra Phelps says

Until 3 years ago, we lived in an area where we usually had zero trick-or-treaters (except family.) Now we live in a neighborhood that gets hundreds! I’m not kidding! Lol, they arrived in hoards that first year, & after the first hour we were out of candy & had to turn off the light. Last year, we made it through the entire 2 hours, but just barely. This year, I’m determined to have enough candy! I kind of miss those Halloweens that were just me & Mom eating the candy we bought, lol.

  8. These are great ideas! I saw an advertisement for the Wendy’s frosty coupon booklets. That’s so neat to give instead of candy and I think the kids would appreciate that in their buckets this year!

  9. I never thought of babies trick or treating and baby food is an excellent idea! I’m always preaching good nutrition so any non-candy treats win over candy any time with me. It can be a good time without all that sugar and preservatives!

  10. You made some very valid points that I never thought of! Pencils for kids allergic to certain ingredients and snacks for babies! We don’t get a lot of kids at all but I’m thinking harder what I purchase this year!
