Okay I admit, I started my Christmas and holiday shopping in late June of this year! It seems like our family is getting bigger & bigger and I need to start earlier & earlier every year. On top of that, I’ve really gotten into shopping for bargains & deals…so when I see the perfect birthday, holiday or Christmas gift (on sale) I’ll pick it up.
I was at one of my favorite stores for finding bargains & deals, aka. Big Lots and picked up several things. Today, I’m just going to show two of them to you. What’s really cool is that BOTH of these items were marked down on clearance and then I got an additional 20% OFF of that clearance price!
First up…a set of microfiber bed sheets in a twin size for my granddaughter’s bed. They come with a flat sheet, a fitted sheet and a pillowcase. I thought they would be rough & cheap sheets, but let me tell you…these microfiber sheets are super soft! They were regularly $18 for the set (Big Lots price) and they had them on clearance for $10.00. I then got 20% OFF of that price making them $8.00 for the entire set! They are adorable with that owl print!
For my little grandson, I picked up a 6-pack of FILA brand socks for him. I bought them a little bit bigger than what he’s currently wearing right now, since I’m putting the socks back for Christmas. They were marked down to $5.00 for the 6 pairs and I got 20% OFF of that. So, I ended up paying $4.00 for 6 pairs of brand new, name brand socks! What a deal!
Finally (forgot to take a photo), they had pork hot dogs that were normally priced at $1.50 a pack (for eight hot dogs) that were ON SALE for the weekend for .97 cents per package, limit of 4 packs. On top of that, you got 20% off, so I ended up paying .84 cents per package of hot dogs! Yippeee! My grandchildren love eating grilled hot dogs when they’re visiting.
So, what kind of bargains & deals have you snagged lately? Tell me all about them!

My Christmas list has shrunk dramatically over the years, but like you, I still keep an eye out for gifts throughout the year. It’s a great way to give people high quality gifts without breaking the budget. I also give a lot of homemade presents, like jam and baked goods.
You scored at Big Lots, for sure. The sheets are cute cute cute, and the little socks are pretty cool, too. The kids will love them, and their parents will, too.

I found a comforter done in an owl print like those sheets while on vacation and it was on clearance for $14.00 (regular $45) so I snagged that up the other day. Princess G loves owls, so I think she’ll love the new sheets & comforter that I’m giving to her for Christmas. Now to start tackling her massive toys & games list. LOL
I start my Christmas shopping right after the holidays and whenever I see a good sale. I haven’t yet found a great bargain , but I did get some good sale prices on clothes.baby toys and car-related items.
I basically shop all year long. I would estimate that I’m 70% done with my holiday shopping. On a mission to be completely done before Thanksgiving.
Lol, I have to start Christmas shopping in August or else I’d be broke in December! To remember what I have for who, I have to keep a list! Really, my memory stinks these days.
I too start Christmas shopping whenever I see a bargain. I already have 3 Christmas presents – I think. Thats the only problem. Sometimes I forget what I bought!
(Fun Frugal Finds: Getting a Jump on Christmas Shopping) You are also a great bargain shopper Shelly. I always start my Christmas shopping for family and friends in the month of January when everything is such a great price!
I’m a big fan of clearance shopping and buying things ahead of time when I find a great deal. It’s smart to think ahead and save money when you can!
I start my shopping right after the holidays when so many things are on sale. Haven’t been out shopping lately at all.
Shelby, a gal after my own heart. I too grab deals almost all year-round and store them up for Christmas. You can’t find deals like that in November, the shelves will be bare!
