French Toast with Maple Orange Syrup Recipe
During the weekends my family enjoys sitting down and having a big, hot breakfast together. We all take turns making pancakes, waffles, French toast, omelets, breakfast burritos, various breakfast casseroles and all sorts of other things.
Recently we decided to whip up some homemade French Toast and we made the Nielsen-Massey Maple Orange Syrup to go along with it. For this recipe, you’ll need a bottle of their Pure Orange Extract which is absolutely fantastic! It’s a great extract to have on hand for all of your cooking & baking needs.
1/2 tsp. of Orange Extract = 2 Tbsp. Orange Juice
1/2 tsp. of Orange Extract = 1/2 Orange Zest
So, if you don’t have any fresh oranges or orange juice on hand, this extract will work perfectly!
French Toast Maple Orange Syrup Recipe
To Make French Toast:
4-6 slices of bread
2-3 large eggs
1/4 tsp. Nielsen-Massey Pure Orange Extract
1/4 tsp. Nielsen-Massey Tahitian Pure Vanilla Extract
3-4 Tbsp. milk
dash of ground cinnamon
butter or non-stick cooking spray
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the large eggs, extracts, dash of ground cinnamon and milk until blended. Heat up your frying pan over medium heat using a little bit of butter or non-stick cooking spray. Dip your bread slices into the prepared egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides. Place into a hot frying pan and simmer until lightly brown, flip the slices over and simmer the other side until lightly brown.
To Make Maple Orange Syrup:
1 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Tahitian Pure Vanilla Extract
1/8 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Pure Orange Extract
Whisk together the above three ingredients in a glass measuring cup or small glass pitcher, until blended. Pour syrup over hot slices of French Toast and serve immediately.
* Note: Some people like a LOT of egg when they make this recipe, so feel free to add-in more egg if desired.
I received a complimentary bottle of the Nielsen-Massey Pure Orange Extract and love it! We are NOT big orange juice drinkers, so most of the time I don’t have oranges or orange juice on-hand when a recipe calls for it. It’s a lot easier to just have this bottle of extract on hand and besides…I love the taste of it!
