Boka Box Delivers Healthier and Happier Smiles
My son is back to school, which in my mind means that the summer is officially over. No more afternoon trips to the beach and no more weekday sleepovers. We’re back to homework, juggling pick up and drop offs, and sports and more sports. That means our evenings are usually pretty crazy and everyone is beat by 8:30 p.m. My son usually has to be asked to go upstairs and brush his teeth at least three times before he actually does it. I feel like I want to melt into bed, but force myself to stick to my routine—face washed and teeth brushed and flossed. We’re exhausted, but our teeth are definitely not something to neglect. If you are like me, you want the right products to keep all the smiles in your household as happy and healthy as possible.
I was recently introduced to Boka, which is fully customized subscription box that is specifically for oral hygiene. I love this concept since I’m slightly obsessed with teeth brushing and flossing. I also think it’s an ideal way to remind people to ditch the old toothbrush (since everyone should change out their toothbrush with a new one every 3 months). Bacteria can really build up on our toothbrushes so it’s really important to discard that old brush and replace it with a new one.
The Boka box is so convenient, but it also offers a healthier, more natural option than your typical run of the mill grocery store oral care products. I not only love the idea of more natural products, but often times don’t feel like they are really working. You can totally feel a difference using the Boka products. • The Boka Classic Toothbrush – this toothbrush has a simple design and comes in four colors. What is really unique about this toothbrush is the high-quality bristles. The bristles are made with Binchotan activated charcoal that naturally reduces odor-causing bacteria while providing a soft, gentle cleaning. The toothbrush is really soft (which helps keep you from over brushing) and does a great job of cleaning your teeth. I have been using a toothbrush that has a wayward bristle that’s been annoying the heck out of me for the last few weeks. This toothbrush was a welcome change. Old toothbrush….meet the trash bin.
• Boka Natural Mint Toothpaste – this product is a natural toothpaste that gives your mouth a burst of freshness with its essential oils like peppermint and mint. It contains no sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), fluoride, triclosan, artificial flavors or parabens. Something to note is that the toothpaste does not bubble up and get foamy like most other toothpastes, but this doesn’t mean that it’s not effective. Chemicals are what make those other toothpastes foam up, which is really unnecessary.
• Boka Mint Floss – we all know the importance of flossing your teeth. I am very diligent about it as I have some crowns and they are really tough to clean with a toothbrush alone. The Boka Mint Floss is coated with natural beeswax and mint oil and is Teflon free and petroleum free. The floss glides well, but it did fray between one of my crowns (it’s a tight space and most floss breaks). This floss didn’t work that well for me, but it did have a great taste.
• Cocorinse – this is a product that I was unfamiliar with, but is a fantastic alternative to mouthwash. Cocorinse is used to do something called oil pulling. Oil pulling has many natural benefits such as fresher breath, cleaner, brighter teeth and better overall oral health. Simply swish the rinse each morning before you brush and you’ll be whitening your teeth and freshening your breath the more natural way. It’s made in the U.S. with 100% organic, cold-pressed virgin coconut oil, and organic peppermint and spearmint oils for the ultimate minty freshness.
The Boka Boxes start at just $14.50 per kit and come directly to your door every three months. There are a few options to choose from, including a child’s toothbrush kit.
