Liven Up Your Kitchen with Whiskey Smoked Irish Salt #FoodieFriday

August 5, 2016 by Kristine

San Francisco Salt CompanyMy husband and I enjoy spending time in the kitchen and trying new recipes or even giving a new twist to an old favorite. In our house there are several staples that are in just about every dish we make—olive oil, garlic and sea salt. It was about 5 or 6 years ago that my husband really started experimenting with different types of sea salts and over the years has perfected many recipes using it. We recently were introduced to Whisky Smoked Irish Salt from the San Francisco Salt Company, which is a unique and smoky sea salt that will jazz up any dish you add it to.

The San Francisco Salt Company was created in 2002 to fill a void in the online salt market, and over the years has grown to become one of the largest specialty salt suppliers in the country. The company carefully selects only the best quality salts from suppliers around the globe for their taste, texture, and appearance.

The San Francisco Salt Company

The company’s Whiskey Smoked Irish Salt has a very distinct and smoky flavor due to its aging process. Aged Teeling Whiskey oak kegs are smoked within hours of being emptied. This process ensures they retain their rich whiskey and oak aroma, which is then subtlety infused into Oriel Irish Mineral Sea Salt. Oriel salt is renowned for being rich in trace minerals and embodying a powerful taste that allows chefs to use less salt with the same kick. Once smoked, it delivers a powerful and smoky delicious flavor.

The Whisky Smoked Irish Salt is 100% natural, kosher and has no artificial flavors or additives. It’s extra fine, so it’s ideal for sprinkling on food and is very versatile—you can use on it everything from meat, poultry and fish to veggies, starches (like potatoes and rice) and even eggs. We used it in a breakfast scramble with eggs, bacon, tomatoes and spinach. It really turned up the volume on one of our breakfast staples. We used it again when we made some steaks and asparagus. Delicious.

Whisky Smoked Irish Salt

The company has a full line of gourmet salts ranging from 5 ounce to 25-pound bags. The Whisky Smoked Irish Salt is available in a glass shaker, a chef’s jar as well as in several sizes of re-sealable bags. The website is currently offering these salts at a discount with prices ranging from $8.49 to $59.49.
