IDO3D Vertical Drawing KitsCan you believe we are almost into the month of September already? The holiday shopping season is almost upon us and today we are feature a really cool product that would make a great holiday gift or birthday gift for any child on your shopping list. Let’s get to it!

Living in a vertical world – as we do – pens and 3D printers are no longer separate items. 3D drawing pens have been introduced as the newest way to create remarkable artwork, especially for kids. RedwoodVentures has taken a giant step forward in the world of 3D drawing with IDO3D Vertical.

Great for kids AND parents, IDO3D Vertical makes 3D drawing accessible for all families with sets starting at only $9.99. Unlike many other pens in ever-growing market, the IDO3D Vertical technology uses no heat or plastic filament. The pens are designed to use cool ink that reacts instantly to the built in LED light. The LED light solidifies the ink instantly allowing users to draw up, over and in 3D.

We received a complimentary IDO3D Vertical Drawing Kit to review for all of you. It comes with 5 3D drawing pens, 3D Pen Light, 1 Guide Book, 1 Plastic Sheet, 2 3D Building Accessories and 3 LR44 Batteries. This kit is for children ages 8 and up.

Manufacturer’s Note: Results vary depending on the child’s age and level of skill. Product and colors may vary.

My granddaughter is 7 years old and my nephew is 14 years old. Since she’s younger than the recommended age, I sat them both down and read the instructions to them and primarily left my nephew work on the project. She picked out the design from the guide book & assisted him, but he primarily did the drawing.

One tip I want to pass along to you all is to use a little bit of clear tape to tape the plastic sheet down onto of the pattern in the guidebook to hold it into place. Since you use the pattern in the guidebook, it will help to keep the plastic sheet from shifting around as the child draws on top of it.

After reading the directions, my nephew got busy outlining the pegasus that the two of them agreed upon doing. The ink coming out from the pen is in liquid form and it is indeed sticky, so you’ll want to avoid touching it. Second, instruct your kids to NOT point the 3D pen light in their eyes or in anyone else’s eyes. Just an FYI on that.

It took my nephew about 15 minutes to outline the Pegasus that they were working on. He then left it sit for about 15 minutes (his hand was tired) and then came back to run the 3D pen light attachment over the top of it. When the 3D light hits it…it hardens it up. Even though it hardens, it’s still pliable so you can work with it. There is NOTHING to burn their hands/skin at all, no heat is used!

I can see how this 3D Vertical Drawing Kit would keep children busy for hours upon hours. In one afternoon they sat for 90 minutes working on their project. They’re not done with it yet and during their next play date they will finish working on it. I hope to show you the finished project soon and will update this post with a photo once that occurs.

You can really let your children’s creativity flow with a drawing kit like this. Sure…they can do horizontal designs if that is what they choose, but this kit can really let their imaginations flow because they can draw vertically and assemble different pieces together to build something really spectacular.

I have been super curious about this product. I am amazed by the 3D printers and such and what they can do. This looks like it will be on dimensional? After it hardens will it stand up or is there a 3D aspect to it? I am curious as to what the end result would be.
This looks fun, and I bet the kids love it!
