Kid’s Craft Project: Easy Bamboo and Seashell Wind Chimes

Kid's Craft Project: Easy Bamboo & Seashell WindchimesLooking for a quick and easy project to do with the kids? Live near a Dollar Store? Got a small collection of seashells on hand? If you answered yes to those three questions, we got a super easy and quick Kid’s Craft Project to share with all of you today!

At our local Dollar Store we picked up the faux bamboo windchimes that you see in the photographs. They are very plain looking and we decided to spruce them up with some seashells that we collected on our last beach vacation. Here’s what you’ll need for this project.

Note: If you plan on hanging them outside in the weather elements, I suggest using E600 adhesive for the seashells and an adult will need to handle the glue. It’s potent stuff! If you’re hanging them indoors or on a covered porch, you can use all-purpose craft glue or a glue gun, again with adult supervision.

Using the glue or adhesive of your choice, glue the small seashells onto the wind chime. I left the Princess pick out the shells she wanted to use and where she wanted to place them, but I handled the gluing and adhesive process.

We added additional pizzazz to our chimes by threaded Capiz Shell discs onto clear fishing line and then tying them onto the chimes. We decided to only add 2 Capiz Shell discs on each side, so that they were within length of the hanging bamboo columns. You can leave your’s plain, string together some small shells or use Capiz Shells like we did.

Once you have your Bamboo & Seashell Wind Chimes fully decorated, you’ll want to let them dry overnight before hanging them outside.

What I love about this project is that it ONLY cost us $1.00 for the plain chimes and everything else I already had on hand. It’s a great way to use up some of those smaller seashells that the kids collected from a summer beach vacation and put them to good use!
