A few weeks ago I picked up some flax seeds at the local health food store for the first time. I’ve been reading about the health benefits of adding flax to your daily diet and decided to give it a try. So far, so good!
The great folks over at Carrington Farms sent over this recipe on how you can make a beef burger even more healthier by adding Carrington Farms Organic Milled Flax Seeds to it. I’m going to give it a try too!
Grilled Beef Burger with Flax Recipe
1 lb. lean ground beef or lean ground turkey
2 Tbs finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic minced
2 Tbs Carrington Farms Organic Milled flaxseed
2 Tbs water
3/4 cup soft bread crumbs (1 slice of bread)
1 beaten egg
1 Tbs mustard
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Mix together meat, onion, garlic, flax and bread crumbs. Lightly beat water and egg together and add to mixture. Add mustard, salt and pepper. Cook on a grill or stove top until no pink remains (~12 mins).
Optional cheeseburgers: top with slice of your choice of cheese at end of cooking and grill or broil for about 1 min.
Makes 4 -3/4 inch thick patties or 6 -1/2 inch thick patties. 4-6 hamburger buns.

I have some flax seeds , but I never thought about adding it to hamburger. Thisi s a great idea and so easy to do.
This looks like a convenient and easy way to get the health benefits of flax seed plus looks like it would be really tasty adding in some of the other ingredients too. We like turkey burgers but I haven’t tried adding anything in with them so this is something I would like to try.
I like this – a healthier burger!
And I’ve been reading so much about the benefits of flax seed.
thank you
I bought some flax but keep forgetting to use it. Putting it in a burger sounds like a great way to get it out of the bag and into my belly. This burger sounds yummy. As always, thanks for sharing these recipes.
I keep a few pounds of whole flax seed on hand so I don’t run out and grind a small portion then refrigerate it. I use it in everything and it’s one of my superfoods I can’t live without. Mostly it gets mixed with my oats since I’m not a big meat eater. I love onions so I’d increase the onion in this recipe, or better yet, top it with a few slices.
A friend of mine was just telling me about flax seed burgers, I am so saving this to try and see he how it taste. I am trying to figure out what to do to help me loose weight and to feel better. Thank you for posting this.
