Get a Close Shave with Somersets Shaving Oils

My husband travels for business, and last year he asked me to get him some shaving oil to put in his carry-on bag. I checked one or two stores but couldn’t find any, much to his disappointment. So you can imagine that when I was asked if I’d be interested in reviewing Somersets Shaving Oils for men and women, I jumped at the chance, and so did my husband!

Somersets Shaving Oils

We received five types of Somersets Shaving Oils: Three men’s formulations (Maximum Glide Original, Maximum Glide Extra Sensitive, and Maximum Glide Tough Stubble) and two women’s (Sensitive and Extra Delicate). I tried the Sensitive, and my husband chose the Maximum Glide Original. We’ve been using them for a couple of weeks now, and the verdict is in: We both love them!

My husband shaves his head, so it’s important that he gets a close shave without irritating his skin. He tried the Somersets with his electric shaver and with his regular razor, following the directions on the package, and he was impressed with how easy the Somersets was to use as well as how well it worked. Both types of razors gave him a clean, smooth shave, and I noticed that he had no redness on his head after using the shaving oil. It only takes 3-5 drops for each shave, so a bottle will last quite a while, and it will be perfect for him to tuck in his travel case for his next business trip.

My experience was equally as good. I used the Somersets on my legs and underarms, and my razor glided over my skin, taking off the hair with ease. I even tried using it between showers on my dry legs, and it worked like a charm—no rough skin, nicks, or dragging razor, which usually happens with a dry shave. As a bonus, I’ve noticed that after several uses, my skin feels very soft.

Somersets all-natural shaving products are made in England. In addition to the shaving oils, their skin care line also includes other men’s shaving products, including shaving gel, pre-shave face wash and scrub, and post-shave moisturizer and balm. Their philosophy is that properly preparing your skin prior to shaving results in a comfortable shave without razor bumps, razor burn, or irritation. To that end, their website offers helpful instructions for getting a perfect shave.

One thing I was happy to see at the Somersets website is that their products are available at several retailers, including Target and Walgreens, so I will indeed be able to buy it locally. It’s also available online directly from Somersets or from sites such as Amazon at Somersets Sensitive Shave Oil 1.2 fl oz (35 ml) for a really great price!
