David Dunleavy Wall Murals in North Wildwood

August 24, 2016 by Shelly

David Dunleavy Wildwood Dolphin Wall MuralAs you all know, I love anything and everything that has to do with the Atlantic Ocean. I’m a pure coastal & beach girl and I’m fortunate enough that I only live a 3 1/2 hour car ride from the Atlantic Ocean in North Wildwood New Jersey. Matter of fact, we visit there several times every year.

As a coastal girl, I absolutely love the ocean & sea art by artist David Dunleavy. He painted some beautiful wall murals (street art) at the Jersey Shore and the photos that I’m featuring today are located in North Wildwood.

This beautiful wall mural is a LOT prettier in person. They were doing some construction & beach replenishing while I was there, so the restroom and area was roped off. Oh yeah, these murals are painted on the sides of a public restroom building that sits right along the beach!

I was told that the public restroom building once had all four sides painted, but the past few years, I’ve only seen three of the four sides like this. There is a different design on three of the sides and the fourth side is now a plain solid color. Sigh.

Out of the three murals painted on that one small building, my favorite is the mother and baby bottlenose dolphins. (first photo) David Dunleavy paints these murals to help raise awareness for endangered sea animals and to help promote conservation.

To date, I’ve had the pleasure to view over 21+ wall murals that artist David Dunleavy has done in Pennsylvania & New Jersey. Every time we travel around, I’m looking for them and hopefully some day, I’ll be able to see them all.

How many of you enjoy coastal art? What about outdoor wall murals and street art?

I always like seeing outdoor art and coastal art is always enjoyable. I am so impressed by the beautiful scenes that are created and how they can create a feeling of nature and calmness.

I do not like coastal art more than other art, but I love these murals of David Dunleavy. YOu have been posting them for several years and they always make me wish I could go there to see them in person.

These murals are beautiful. We have some street art here in Denver, but none of the oceans since we’re so far from them.

I am so glad you shared these beautiful wall murals with us. I so enjoy art and enjoy some street art like this. Some people are so very talented. I love the ocean and that feeling you get when you are walking along a boardwalk so seeing art like this is just a treasure.

I love sea murals too and think more public restrooms like the highway rest stops should have beautiful scenes like these! They just leave you with a peaceful feeling and I love the shades of blue. Scenes of the blue sky and clouds also make me feel tranquil like this.

I think that’s a great idea. They are tranquil and serene to see. Perhaps it would relax drivers more and there would be less cases of road rage LOL
