Learning Resources Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set

July 1, 2016 by Shelly

Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set from Learning ResourcesFor the past 7 years I’ve been buying and/or reviewing various educational toys and games from the company called Learning Resources. This company has been one of my go-to sources for quality made toys that enrich the mind and provide hours upon hours of play-time enjoyment.

When you shop at Learning Resources you will find activity sets & books, construction sets, active learning & play sets, discovery & exploration sets, electronic toys, games, puzzles, water & sand toys and a whole lot more! Everything on their site is extremely well-made and affordable.

Learning Resources Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set

For this review, we received a complimentary Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set from Learning Resources. This set is for ages 3 and up and contains 22 pieces. It will have children to observe, learn about cause & effect and analyze their natural environment.

The 22 piece set includes:

3 plant pots
watering can
vented lid
big view bug jar
10 activity cards
3 plant stakes
sprouting jar
solid lid
handy scoopers
(note: plants, seeds & dirt are NOT included)

Learning Resources Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set

As a grandparent, I spend a lot of time with my 7 year old grand daughter doing educational and creative activities to help enrich, educate and stimulate her mind. As an added bonus, spending all of this time with her is great for family-bonding time too!

This kit allows my grand daughter to learn about planting seeds, taking care of her plants, watching the plants grow and to see the end results. It also is teaching her responsibility for taking care of something. Since I’m big into backyard gardening and growing my own indoor houseplants, it only seemed natural that Gia would enjoy that too. We’ve been working on this aspect of the kit together and LOVE doing it!

My husband has been spending time with Gia catching bugs, placing them in the bug jar and identifying them. He helps her to identify the bug & then they look it up on the internet to learn more about it. After she has observed the bug for a little bit in the bug jar, they set it free and move on to the next one. Since I’m not fond of bugs, this is a great activity for the two of them to enjoy together.

Learning Resources Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set

The set comes with 10 double-sided activity cards with easy-to-follow experiments printed right on them. You can do them together or come up with your own. Overall, we really love this set and we look forward to using it throughout the summer months with our grand daughter!

You can purchase the Learning Resources Primary Science Outdoor Discovery Set on Amazon for an affordable price!
