Fun Frugal Finds – Steals and Deals on Groceries

I really enjoy doing these Fun Frugal Finds – Bargains, Steals and Deals posts here on the Two Classy Chics blog. Just like most of you…I am a bargain hunter and try to hunt down deals as much as I can. Deals are out there if you know where to look!

In Harrisburg Pennsylvania there is a discount grocery store called the Thrift Bakery Outlet. The name is really deceiving because it’s more than a bakery outlet! They have discounted juice, milk, breads, eggs, breakfast foods, snacks, cheeses, lunch meats, sausages, bacon, pop tarts, canned veggies, canned fruits, cleaning products, cereals, some health foods, candy, baking supplies, etc.

The place is much smaller than a traditional grocery store and they are open a few days per week. Everything that they sell is heavily discounted! For example: You can often find Little Debbie, TastyKake and Entenmann’s brands of baked goods & snacks (large packs) for two for $3.00 and three for $5.00. They have super large bottles of Welch’s fruit juices for $1.00, lunch meats & cheeses $1.00 to $2.00 per package, cereals $1.50 to $3.00 per box and so forth.

I wish I could get down there frequently, but I don’t. I do try to shop there once every 2-3 months and then I like to stock up! On a recent trip to the Bakery & Thrift Food Outlet…I snagged everything you’re reading below. Once you read it, I’ll tell you how much I paid for it all. You’ll be amazed!

3 cans Chef Boyardee Spaghetti & Meatballs
1 can Chef Boyardee Ravolovi
1 box Duncan Hines Pineapple Cake Mix
1 four pack of chocolate pudding snack cups
1 can of pineapple slices
1 can of sardines
1 can Hunt’s Manwich
2 four-packs butterscotch pudding snack cups
1 bag Nestle chocolate chips
2 large packages of Thomas English Muffins
2 large bottles Welch’s Mango Juice
2 Tastykake Eclair chocolate pies
1 large box Entenmann’s chocolate doughnuts
1 large can Bush’s Boston Baked Beans
1 large bag Snyder’s of Hanover S’mores Snack Mix
1 box Cheez-it Snack Crackers
2 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
2 large bottles Heinz Ketchup
1 bag of Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups
1 tub of Hershey’s S’mores Cake Frosting
1 large jar Chef Boyardee spaghetti sauce
1 large bag of spaghetti noodles (dry pasta)
1 bag of buttermilk pancake mix
1 eight count box of cherry filled & frosted Poptarts
1 box Little Debbie Zebra Brownies
1 box Little Debbie Peanut Butter Creme Pies
1 box Little Debbie Zebra Cake Rolls
1 box Little Debbie Honey Buns
1 box Chicken Helper – sweet & sour
1 box Little Debbie Nutty Bars
1 bottle Rutters Sweet Tea
1 package of Seltzer’s Sweet Lebanon Bologna
1 two-liter bottle of gingerale
1 gift pack of 48 pieces of Ferroro Rocher Chocolates

The gift pack of Ferroro Rocher Chocolates was a gift to our daughter for her birthday because she LOVES them! That retail pack of chocolates typically costs $19.99 and they had it for $7.00. Wow!

Okay…guess how much I paid for everything you see in the photos and listed above? Come on now…guess? I paid $58.00 for it all. What a deal and steal! I didn’t use a single coupon either! Now that’s what I call bargain shopping for groceries!
