Paula Deen’s Homemade Lemonade Recipe

July 5, 2016 by Shelly

Homemade Lemonade RecipeLemonade is one of those beverages that I absolutely love to enjoy during the spring and summer months. When it comes to lemonade…I will typically only drink homemade because I don’t care for the bottled junk. When I make lemonade I like to follow Paula Deen’s recipe which is below.

Homemade Lemonade Recipe

2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup hot water
2 cups fresh lemon juice
1 gallon cold water
1 lemon, sliced

In a 1 gallon beverage pitcher, place granulated sugar and hot water; stir until all of the granulated sugar dissolves. Add the fresh lemon juice and cold water to render 1 gallon. Stir until well mixed together. Place pitcher into the refrigerator to chill or serve it immediately in tall glasses with ice cubes.

Note: There are times when I don’t need an entire gallon of lemonade made so I do half the recipe at times…it still turns out perfectly! It’s a sweet, but not overly sweet beverage! In addition, I sometimes add a little bit of fruit to it…like freshly sliced strawberries which makes it really good! If you like an even stronger taste of the lemon, add more lemon juice or add a lemon-flavored syrup.

I don’t usually make lemonade, but always add fresh lemon juice to my iced tea which I drink daily. Perhaps I should try Paula Deen’s recipe for a change of pace.

Too hot today and I don’t have any lemons or I’d make this right now. I do enjoy real lemonade and will not drink any other kind.

Homemade lemonade is simply the best. I have always thought the trick of doing it well, was dissolving the sugar in hot water, and this recipe does that too. Thats how my Grandmother always did it, she said the sugar has to get ‘sweet’ whatever that meant ha! She used boiling water though and let it cool, maybe it was her thing to do it that way.

Mmmmm…. wish I had a glass of that right now! Especially with a couple of sliced strawberries. Lemons are so expensive where I live that I rarely buy them, but if I lived where I could have a lemon tree in the yard, I’d be drinking this lemonade all the time.

This looks like a good recipe for lemonade. I like a slightly sweet lemonade–not too sour!

This sounds so good. I don’t think I’ve ever made lemonade from scratch, but I must try it, I’m sure it is way better than a mix! I love Paula Deen recipes!
