Shrimp and Crab Layered Seafood Dip Recipe

June 9, 2016 by Shelly

Shrimp & Crab Layered Dip RecipeHow many of you love seafood? We love it and probably eat some type of seafood or fish at least once a week. The majority of the time when we have it…it’s the main dish in our meal. However, there is this delicious layered seafood dip that my husband makes that utilizes canned shrimp and canned crab meat that the entire family enjoys!

It’s a layered dip so you can make it in a rectangular glass baking dish or in a large serving bowl. If we are just enjoying it at home and not being fancy…we use a serving bowl but if we are taking it to a party or picnic, he will put it into an oblong baking dish which makes for a nicer presentation.

The recipe is very easy to prepare and once you have it prepared, you’ll need to refrigerate the dip for at least 4 hours before serving. It’s great with your favorite chips, tortilla chips or crackers. One final thing…if you don’t like hot & spicy dips, you’ll love this one for sure because there is NOTHING spicy or hot about it.

Shrimp and Crab Meat Dip Recipe

1 (8 ounce) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 (16 ounce) container of sour cream
2 cans of tiny shrimp
1 can white crab meat
1 envelope Ranch dressing mix
1 bottle of cocktail sauce

Mix cream cheese and sour cream together in a large bowl. Add in the Ranch dressing mix, stir until blended. Place bowl in freezer for 10 minutes. Remove from freezer and spread mixture into a serving dish (we use a rectangular glass baking dish). Pour cocktail sauce evenly over mixture. Drain crab meat and shrimp, mix them together in a small bowl. Spread the seafood mixture over the cocktail sauce. Cover your serving bowl or container and refrigerate the dip for several hours before serving.

I love how this is different in that it is a layered dip. It is easy to make , but looks so nice. I can also see it in individual glasses which would make it look fancier.

I love how fancy this looks but yet is not to difficult to make. This is one of my favorite dips to bring along to a party or picnic. Everyone always has great things to say about it and it goes fast.

I LOVE this stuff. Mind you, I have never made it, but when I have had it elsewhere. I have to resist pigging out on it. Ant seafood is great, but if it has cream cheese I am a fan 🙂 I could eat this with a spoon if left to my own ha!

I can see why this would be a hit at gatherings! My mouth is watering just reading the recipe. Thanks for sharing your husband’s recipe, and please pass my thanks along to him, too. I’ve pinned it so I won’t forget it when I’m looking for something yummy to take along to a party.

I love shrimp but I’ve never really tried crab. (I couldn’t get past the smell, lol.) My Mom loves crab dip, though, so we’ll try this.

Mega YUM! I like that it uses the canned shrimp & crab so I could make it almost any time. I usually have cream cheese and cocktail sauce so it will be easy to make.
