Sherlock Holmes: Color in Classics Coloring Book

Sherlock Holmes Adult Coloring and Drawing BookFor the past year we’ve reviewed quite a few of the different adult coloring books that are out in the retail marketplace and I have to admit, they keep getting better and better. The one that I’m featuring today is a combination coloring book and activity book. Here’s some information about it.

For fans of the BBC’s Sherlock and CBS’s Elementary, there’s Sherlock Holmes: Color in Classics ($14.99; ISBN: 978-1-62686-559-4; 144 pages). It’s elementary, my dear artist! Use markers, colored pencils, or monochromatic shading to create beautiful images inspired by the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Color in 70 pages of scenes related to the classics The Hound of the Baskervilles, “A Scandal in Bohemia,” “The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle,” “The Adventure of the Copper Beeches,” “The Man with the Twisted Lip,” “Silver Blaze,” and “The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone.” Coloring can be a relaxing activity that helps to improve imagination and mental acuity. Great fun for all ages!

Each coloring page is really a 2-page spread. On the right side is the page that you color in and on the left side is what I call a blank activity page. For example:

There is a page called ” Smoking Carriage” and that scene to color in is on the right page. On the left is a blank page that says “Draw a river crime scene” and you can choose to draw your own crime scene and color it in.

There is  a page called “Old Hat” and that scene to color in is on the right page. On the left is a blank page that says “Design a tweed pattern here” and you can choose to draw your own pattern and color it in.

I love this concept because you get a chance to sit down and color in a page (scene) and then for those of you who also enjoy drawing…you can draw something on the other page to go along with it. To come up with the complete Sherlock Holmes story, you’ll want to do all of the coloring pages and all of the drawing pages which makes this book unique.

The Sherlock Holmes: Color in Classics Coloring Book is published by Thunderbaybooks.
